Student Assistant for Green Transition

Do you want to work with green transition and local climate targets, then Herlev Municipality is now seeking a student assistant.

We imagine that you have a strong professional interest in the climate area and are enrolled in a relevant education, such as Geography, Climate Change, or similar, where you have worked with themes within sustainable development.

About Green Transition

Green Transition in Herlev Municipality works with different initiatives under the climate action plan. We have tasks related to energy and heat planning, mobility, circular economy and sustainable urban development. Ahead of the end of 2027, we must update the climate action plan, which will be done in collaboration with our Climate Action Plan Committee, which in addition to representatives of the political parties consists of central actors such as Herlev Hospital, property owner associations, the social housing companies KAB and DAB-Lejerbo, as well as utilities such as Movia, HOFOR and Vestforbrænding.

We collaborate broadly with other parts of the administration to make sustainability a central part of the municipality’s work, and together with the library we run an annual climate festival. In addition to ongoing daily sparring with colleagues, we also participate in inter-municipal networks and collaborations in relation to the Climate Alliance.

About you

We are looking for someone who

• can convey complex issues in easily understood language both in writing and orally.
• has insight into municipal climate planning, either from concrete experience in a municipality or through studies.
• has strong professional expertise in greenhouse gas reduction and/or climate adaptation
• has experience with organizing and facilitating events, preferably citizen-focused events

Your tasks

Your tasks will, for example, include

• contributing to the updating of our climate action plan through data collection and text pieces for various sections
• supporting the organization of various citizen-facing events, such as climate action day and climate festival
• being a project assistant on a concrete food project

In addition, there will also be a need to contribute to coordination with other parts of the administration on the various measures of the climate action plan. And although you will mainly be anchored in Green Transition, there may occasionally be a need to assist some of our neighboring teams.

We expect that you are used to working in a structured, independent and project-based manner, but most importantly, we hope you bring a good amount of energy and curiosity to learn new things. In a small municipality like Herlev, you will experience that you can quickly take on responsibility and gain momentum to initiate relevant green initiatives. And in Green Transition you will have the opportunity to put a green fingerprint to benefit the climate in both thought and action.

You will become part of an engaged climate unit with an informal tone and a good working environment, working purposefully with the municipality’s tasks and projects within green transition.

You will report professionally to the Chief Consultant Jeppe Krommes-Ravnsmed. The nearest supervisor is the Director of City and Community, Charlotte Wieth-Klitgaard.

Our workplace is at the town hall, which is centrally located in the town center close to super bike lanes, good bus connections, the station and the major roads in the municipality. There is a canteen and several staff benefits including holiday homes, free access to the swimming pool, DSB employee card as a gross salary deduction to use bus, train and metro, and good changing facilities in the basement if you instead cycle or run to work.

Salary and employment

We anticipate that you can work 10-15 hours per week. We offer flexible working hours that can be adapted to your studies and exam periods. Salary is determined according to the applicable collective agreement and the principles of new pay.
