About the job

Do you want to help protect the environment through technically strong assessments of pesticides? We are seeking two toxicologists who will work with health assessments of products and active substances together with skilled colleagues.

Tasks in the office and organization

The area Safe Chemical works to protect the environment and human health through regulation, authorization, control and enforcement in the chemical, biocidal and pesticide area. The tasks include among other things assessment and authorization of biocides and pesticides, as well as research and production with genetically modified organisms.

The work also includes the assessment and regulation of chemical substances and products in accordance with EU legislation, including REACH and CLP regulations, setting limit values and mapping and risk assessment of chemicals in products and the environment.

The area Safe Chemistry also conducts control of and enforces chemical legislation and the related rules. This includes control and enforcement tasks concerning, among other things, classification, labeling, storage, restrictions, marketing and use of a wide range of products, including pesticides, biocides, chemical products, cosmetics, electronics, textiles, toys and other consumer products.

In addition, the area actively participates in global, Nordic and European cooperation on regulation, authorization, control and enforcement in the chemical, biocidal and pesticide fields.

We are organized in 4 offices and in total about 120 skilled and dedicated colleagues.

Authorization tasks are solved together with environmental and health professionals, lawyers and administrative staff and specialists in the physical/chemical properties of substances. We have an informal tone and a work environment characterized by high professionalism, job satisfaction, professional sparring and good humor.

You will join team Pesticides – Health or team Biocides , which are both part of the office Fighting Agents – Authorization and Evaluation in the Safe Chemistry area. The office consists of about 50 employees.

Based on an application from a company you will assess the intrinsic properties of the products from the submitted studies, and perform a health-based classification and a risk assessment for the specific uses, as well as set risk limits contributing to safe use.

You will also comment on product assessments and active substances assessments from other countries. Communication with applicants and authorities in the EU is therefore an important part of the job.
