About the job

Do you want to take on both the overall responsibility for our students and trainees and participate in the daily operations in our stroke unit and geriatric ward?

We are currently seeking an engaged and professionally strong nurse who will take on the role of AKU (Academic Clinical Supervisor) on both of our wards. You will become a key person in our learning environment and will be responsible for supporting, guiding and evaluating students in their clinical education journey – in close collaboration with the supervisors at the two wards.

You will have two fixed days per week set aside for administrative work . The other days you will be included in the wards' duty rosters distributed across the two wards, where your primary focus will be to be present in the clinic together with the students and trainees.

About us

We are two departments with a high level of ambition, where both the patient and the professional development are in focus. We focus on holistic pathways for older and multimorbid patients, and we work closely with municipal partners and relatives to create coherence and security.

The geriatric ward has capacity for 22 beds, and treats, cares for and assesses patients with fall problems, declining functional level, acute delirium states (delirium), infections and unresolved symptoms in the elderly medical patient. We place great emphasis on keeping focus on the patients’ acute and current diseases while working from a rehabilitative approach so that the patient does not lose further function during admission.

The stroke unit has capacity for 22 stroke patients, phase 2, and mainly receives patients from the Neurology Department N80, Roskilde Hospital, who have been investigated for and treated for cerebral infarction or brain hemorrhage (stroke).

Patients are transferred to interdisciplinary rehabilitation, treatment and assessment prior to discharge to rehabilitation phase 3 in municipal or regional governance. The length of stay is on average 12 days. We are therefore a ward that knows our patients and collaborates with several different disciplines to give the patient the best possible course.

You will become part of an engaged and experienced staff group where we take good care of each other and protect the good working environment. We are a training site for 2nd, 3rd and 6th semester nursing students as well as SSA students. We have students in both short and long practical training periods year-round.

Your primary tasks as AKU

  • Planning of placements : You arrange the weekly learning and overall practical training for students in close collaboration with the ward’s clinical supervisor as well as daily practice supervisors.
  • Presence profiles and learning materials : You are responsible for developing each student’s/trainee’s plan and staying updated on current learning objectives.
  • Common reflection : You plan and run weekly joint reflection sessions with the other supervisors.
  • Skillslab : you get opportunities to facilitate skills training in our learning laboratory as well as in the close clinical environment.
  • Exam preparation : In close collaboration with the ward’s clinical supervisor and daily practice supervisors you plan and organize exams and evaluations.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • Is a trained nurse with Danish authorization and a minimum of 2 years of professional experience – with an interest in geriatrics and rehabilitation.
  • Has at minimum the Diploma of Advanced Studies as a clinical supervisor or another postgraduate education that provides the competence to supervise and examine nursing students.
  • Has pedagogical flair, is a good role model and can collaborate closely and professionally with educational institutions (schools).
  • Possesses good communication skills and an empathetic, nuanced approach to the students’ differences.
  • Thrives in a close, interdisciplinary collaboration with doctors, social and health care assistants, therapists and a dietician.
  • Is professionally curious, engaged and ready to contribute positively to the staff group.

We offer

  • Two fixed administrative days per week.
  • Hospital-wide network : Participation in strong professional group meetings where you, together with Medicine 2 and other AKU staff, discuss and develop the shared learning forum across the entire hospital.
  • A workplace with a strong focus on employee well-being, patient experiences and a strong learning environment.
  • Close sparring and collaboration with the ward’s other supervisors.
  • Good opportunities for competence development and relevant courses.
  • Flexibility in duty planning and weekend shifts every 4 weeks alternating between the two wards .
  • A safe introduction program, where you in the beginning are accompanied by an experienced colleague.
  • A welcoming and warm collegial community.
