About the job

Do you want to help create better patient pathways for people with severe mental illness?

Are you interested in working with clinical project development and research at the intersection of psychiatry and abdominal surgery?

Then you now have the opportunity to become a central part of an exciting research project at Denmark's largest psychiatric center.

At the Psychiatric Center Copenhagen (PCC) we systematically work to create coherence between research and patient treatment. We have a vision to build knowledge within the psychiatric field in order to integrate the latest research results with clinical practice. We do this with an active aim of creating the best possible treatment for the benefit of the patient.

Better survival for severe mental illness – increased participation in screening and diagnostic workup for colorectal cancer

People with severe mental illness have a significantly shorter life expectancy than the general population. Physical diseases contribute substantially to this excess mortality, and research also points to an increased cancer-related mortality in this group. An important part of the solution is to strengthen collaboration between psychiatry and somatic health care so that more patients gain access to relevant prevention, diagnostics and treatment.

The aim of the research project is to increase participation in screening and the subsequent diagnostic clarification for colorectal cancer among people with severe mental illness. The project should contribute with new knowledge about how we best support the patients and create more cohesive pathways across specialties.

The project is anchored at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital and is conducted in collaboration between the Department of Abdominal Surgery and the Psychiatric Center Copenhagen.
