About the job

Come on board – we have both heart, liver and guts in the right place! It is so rewarding to work with our patient group. Many of them are vulnerable and with somewhat precarious lives, and we really make a difference for them.

The collaboration between doctors and nursing staff is fantastic.

We have fun in the staff group, even though we can be busy at times. We have good self-irony, and we think we are funny ourselves.

We have good psychological safety.

This is how the staff describe everyday life on K0161 themselves – and it is precisely this combination of professionalism, togetherness and humor that we would like to invite you to become a part of.

At the gastro-medical inpatient ward K0161 at North Zealand Hospital, we are looking for a nurse who wants to make a difference for patients with complex gastro-medical problems.

Perhaps you are a recent graduate and are looking for a place where you can develop. Perhaps you have experience from another medical or surgical specialty and want to try gastroenterology. Or perhaps you have many years of experience and are seeking new professional challenges.

The most important thing is not how much gastro-medical nursing you already know. The most important is that you want to learn and be part of our community.

What will you be working with? K0161 is a specialized gastro-medical ward normed to 12 patients as of 1 January 2027. The ward is part of the Surgical Department at North Zealand Hospital. We work with a varied patient group, and you will, among other things, meet patients with:

  • Liver cirrhosis and complex hepatological issues
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and biological treatment
  • Acute pancreatitis
  • Social and psychosocial challenges

We work based on Fundamentals of Care, where the relationship with the patient, quality of nursing and patient involvement are central elements.

Who are we? We are a staff group with broad diversity consisting of nurses, social- and health care assistants, pharmaconomist and department physiotherapist with different ages, backgrounds and many years of varied experience. We see our differences as a strength, as we can learn from each other and bring different perspectives and competences into play.

We have a close interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians and other professional groups. We believe that the best patient pathways are created when we use each other’s competencies and speak openly together.

And social aspects matter to us. We want to be a workplace where there is room for high professionalism and development, but also humor and a good laugh in everyday life. We prioritize a collegial community and also meet for social events outside the workday across professional groups.

Who are you?

  • You are a licensed nurse and eager to work with both acute, complex and long-term patient pathways
  • You are professionally curious and interested in understanding the connection between the patient’s symptoms, disease and treatment
  • You want to develop your nursing competencies and become more proficient in, among other things, observation, clinical assessment, medication management and care of the medical patient
  • You thrive in a daily routine where there may be many different patient pathways, and where you must be able to maintain an overview and prioritize your nursing tasks
  • You enjoy working closely with doctors, social- and health care assistants and other professional groups and see interprofessional collaboration as an important part of a good patient journey
  • You actively contribute to a good professional and social working environment and want to both share your own knowledge and learn from your colleagues

Mentor scheme We know that it takes time to learn a new specialty and/or a new staff group. Therefore you will receive an individually tailored introduction program and a mentor, so you gradually become familiar with the specialty and take on more responsibility as you are ready.

We emphasise that it should be safe to be new with us. You should be able to ask for help, brainstorm with colleagues and speak up if you are uncertain about something.

Practical The position is 32-37 hours per week with mixed shifts in two-shift rotation. You will have weekend shifts every 2nd or 3rd weekend, and you have influence on your own duty roster.

Start date: January 1, 2027 or by agreement.

You will be employed under the collective agreement for non-managerial staff in the Health Cartel area. During employment you are covered by the applicable working time agreement concluded between the Regional Pay and Tariff Board and the Danish Nurses Association.
