About the job

Positions wanted to be filled January 1, 2026, or by agreement. About us

The department has as of January 1, 18 beds, of which 10 are dedicated to internal medicine and 8 are dedicated to orthopaedic surgery.

Orthopaedic surgery

Our orthopaedic patient category consists of acutely admitted patients with proximal femur fractures, other fractures after accidents/trauma, amputation patients and wound patients.

Internal medicine

Our medical patient category mainly comprises patients with lung-related diseases and cardiovascular disorders. In addition, patients are admitted for medical investigations with infectious diseases, cancers, nutritional problems or pain issues.

The vision is a stronger collaboration between the two specialties, including medical ward rounds on orthopaedic patients.

Variations within the two categories are large, so you will experience a very varied everyday life. We also admit ear-nose-throat patients for observation on the first day after surgery, on agreed days.

You will have good opportunities to gain broad knowledge of medical and orthopaedic surgical diseases and follow both shorter and longer trajectories. We focus on good and coherent patient pathways, where the good discharge starts at admission. That is, in collaboration with among others the patient and relatives we plan discharge and return home already at admission, so the patient feels secure about the course.

As a nurse with us your tasks will primarily be to plan, perform and assess the nursing care for our patients in their treatment course. There will be both practical instrumental tasks, as well as tasks of an administrative nature.

The department buzzes with initiatives within development and research.

  • Project, which is now in operation. TETON is an AI-driven system that supports care. The system is a tool that improves care by providing tailored alarms for individual patients, so staff can respond promptly and prevent possible falls. TETON enables care staff to dedicate more time to one-on-one interactions, which improves overall care quality.
  • 2-year project, which has just started, in collaboration with PhD students from our research unit.

The aim of the project is to develop and test an intervention program that shall strengthen nursing care for frail elderly patients, so this patient group to the greatest extent preserves their functions from before admission. The program focuses especially on nursing within the physical, relational and psychosocial elements of nursing.

In addition you should also expect pedagogical and teaching tasks in relation to nursing students, social- and health care assistant students and ambulance care assistant students, who all come here in a training period as part of their education.
