About the job
Do you want to help digitize the Danish defence? We are seeking a new colleague for the Hardware Section in the Technology Department in the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (Forsvarsministeriets Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse) in Ballerup, where you will play a central role in providing the best possible technology for our soldiers.
About us
We work to digitize the battlefield by developing, implementing and managing command and control systems in close collaboration with the Defence Command and industry. Our systems (C2) support not only the Army but also the Home Guard, the Danish Emergency Management Agency and the Special Forces, thereby ensuring coherence across domains.
With us you will have the opportunity to work with unique systems for which ordinary IT solutions fall short.
You will become part of the Hardware Section, and join a team of seven professionally strong and enthusiastic employees with backgrounds in both civilian and military spheres. A large part of the section's work is to procure, supply, maintain and dispose of computers, networks and systems within the Command and Control Support area. As well as coordinating relevant tasks with our customers in the land-based military domain.
You will be part of a dynamic group, characterized by both a formal and an informal leadership style, where you yourself have great influence on your own and the group's development, as well as cross-functional collaboration. You will have a pronounced degree of flexibility regarding work time planning, and the possibility to work from home where feasible.
About the position
In your work, as part of a team, you will be responsible for supporting the development and operation of hardware for the Defence's command and control systems (C2), which soldiers use to support their task execution on the battlefield.
You are involved in producing deployable- and scalable IT solutions and integrations, based on an architectural framework defined by our system architects. In daily work you will collaborate across our organization and with our suppliers to find the best solutions for our users; the soldiers. The solutions are used in environments that place high demands on uptime, simplicity and security, which is why these parameters are included in the design of the solutions.
Through collaboration with system architects you will have the opportunity to influence the architecture's development so that we continually stay ahead of technological possibilities. Your everyday work consists of design, implementation, testing and documentation of the solutions. This includes communication with users, operations staff and suppliers. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to become responsible for initiating, driving and completing projects.
The demanded solutions are high-tech. Your knowledge of – and application of – modern technologies will be challenged and developed as needed to solve the task.
You will undergo an internal competency development program to be able to hold the position. In addition, there will be good opportunities for further competency development.
Challenges include, among others
- Design, implementation, testing and documentation of solutions.
- Ensure that the solutions meet security, uptime and simplicity requirements.
- Close collaboration with system architects to influence and develop the architecture.
- Close collaboration with industry on solutions.
- Communication with users, operations staff and suppliers in collaboration with the team.
- Initiate, drive and complete projects.
Some travel activity in Denmark and abroad is expected, approximately 15-30 working days per year.
About you
- You have a degree in IT engineering, bachelor IT, IT technician, computer science or equivalent.
- You are interested in translating designs into actual solutions and engaging in direct communication with users about validation and optimization of the work.
- You have a deeper understanding of diverse IT technologies, as well as the ability to connect them across and make the best use of them.
- You understand how to apply the V&V model for planning and execution of development activities.
- You have knowledge of and good understanding of IT security and the ability to analyze and implement secure solutions.
- You are curious to find innovative possibilities within constraints.
- You have experience with or at least interest in project management.
- You can communicate clearly, systematically and definitively, both orally and in writing.
- Experience with modeling in tools such as EA Sparx is an advantage.
- Knowledge of, or experience with, Systems Engineering is an advantage.
You are analytically well-founded and systematic in your planning and analysis work.
We expect you to work in a structured way with your tasks, both independently and as part of a team, and to be able to see them through to the end.
We do not always know next week's tasks, so you must be adaptable and flexible, as well as able to maintain an overview in a day with changing priorities.
We also expect you to have good communication skills in both Danish and English.
