About the job
Are you our new teacher or pedagogue for one of our special offers at Kokkedal School?
Perhaps you are a power team, jointly seeking new challenges?
Do you value good collegiality with room for influence, participation and a balance between work life and private life?
Are you passionate about working with students who are challenged by, among other things, attention? And would you like to help develop a strong school offering that develops the students academically, socially and personally?
Are you curious about low arousal and neuroaffective developmental psychology? And how to work with emotional regulation in a school context?
YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!? We are the perfect school for you if you want to challenge your own practice, want to further develop and be part of a professionally strong team and if your driving force is to give children the best possible opportunities in school and in life!
The K-class at Kokkedal School
At Kokkedal School we started in August 2023 a new special offer (the K-class). As we get more children, we need to expand the staff even further. At present we have children aged 3-8 years.
In the team you will be responsible for teaching the group of students, all of whom need a clear structure and calm nervous systems around them to achieve the best possible schooling. The students are not necessarily diagnosed, but generally have difficulties with attention, may also be within the autism spectrum, and are normally gifted, which means they have the potential to complete the full primary school exit exam.
We also have another special class series for students with general learning difficulties, which has a collegial community with the K-class staff.
Your profile
You are strong in relationships and collaboration, you have a positive and sunny outlook on life and you are a trained teacher or pedagogue. We need skilled teachers with all subject specializations, and are therefore open to different combinations.
Perhaps you are a power team who work well together and therefore as a team are seeking new paths?
We are looking for you/you all who
- Are capable of guiding the academic and social development of the students
- Can work from a clear special pedagogical approach
- Can create a structured daily routine
- Experience with the target group is an advantage but not a requirement
- Are engaged, active and a natural role model
- Are curious about and dedicated to supporting and developing strong communities among both children and adults at the school
- Are passionate about a school that creates participation opportunities for all children
You will experience
- becoming part of our skilled and ambitious special pedagogy environment.
- a mix of new and experienced special education colleagues, all ready to spar and share experiences in collaboration with our practice supervisor.
- regular supervision, on the academic and personal challenges that may arise
- mentor program for newly hired staff
- colleagues who value well-being and academics highly, but also place emphasis on camaraderie, humor and community
A dynamic, meaningful daily life
In daily work with the students you must have a good sense of where each student is and whether there is a need to adjust the approach to the student and the teaching. This requires that you can both accommodate the individual student and make the group function well together.
The work includes student action plans and collaboration with parents, PPR, the school's mainstream classes and leadership, as well as supervision both individually and in the classroom team.
Flexible school
At Kokkedal School we work in self-managing teams, where teaching and the timetable are arranged so there is room for academic deepening and to tailor the school day to the students' needs. The K-class should be part of the large and flexible school and design activities and teaching as close as possible to the mainstream school.
Students arrive at 08:15.
Kokkedal School – the school of community
At Kokkedal School we have good physical premises with large and spacious classrooms, well-equipped subject rooms and inviting green areas with ample opportunities for activity. We are undergoing a major renovation of the school as part of the Frederiksværk Municipality project “Future Primary School”, which will ensure that our learning environments are designed for 21st century learning, which means that we are about to open the latest phase of the refurbishment, our ‘Innovatek’.
We have about 800 students from 0–9th grade distributed over 3-4 tracks. In our special class series for children with learning difficulties there are 33 students distributed over 5 classes. Our K-classes currently accommodate 18 students distributed over 3 classes.
Creative and innovative school
Our learning is meaningful, progressive and real-world – we are a creative and evidence-based school full of initiative and movement. We work, among other things, with talent groups by interest and often cross-disciplinary.
We will, by means of a dedicated and professionally competent staff – who work progressively from our well-defined values: Responsibility, Respect, Engagement and Professionalism – maintain a high professional level with corresponding good results.
