About the job
Growth classes are a special offering where teaching, relationship work and pedagogical treatment go hand in hand. In the first instance, the offering has started in the lower primary and in the middle grades at Ugerløse School.
We are therefore looking for a teacher who wishes to work closely with the students' social, personal and academic development. The subject package is Danish, mathematics and/or English, but we are happy to hear from you if everything else fits.
A bit about the offering
Growth classes are a specially designed offering for students who need smaller learning environments, clear adults and a structured daily life. A class consists of 6-8 students and 4 adults.
A condition you will experience is that the children can be physical in their behavior, and this places high demands on you as a professional. You can maintain calm and regulate the environment so that it becomes conflict-deescalating. You stand on the child’s perspective and can handle conflicts and physical behavior within the pedagogical framework.
You believe that when children experience adults who stay present, create security and help them return to regulation, small – yet very meaningful – steps in their development often occur. As an employee you will have the opportunity to build strong relationships, see the children grow in self-understanding and experience how your professional competence makes a concrete difference in their daily life.
Both school and leisure time
In growth classes we place great emphasis on ensuring that children meet familiar adults throughout their day. This means that you as an employee are with the child in the hours when the child is in the offering.
This continuity creates security, calm and predictability for the children – and is a prerequisite for relationship building, regulation and learning. It requires you to be flexible regarding working hours and holiday periods, and the opportunity to work holistically and experience how continuity and clear relationships make a noticeable difference for the children.
Collaboration, meetings and sparring
Beside daily work, there will be close collaboration about the children with parents, PPR and the Children and Family Department, both in terms of meeting participation and ongoing dialogue. In addition, your tasks include, among other things, the following:
- Work in a relationship- and resource-oriented way with the students' social and emotional development
- Support the students’ regulation, well-being and participation in both the school and leisure parts
- Plan and carry out pedagogical activities in both the teaching and leisure parts
- Work with psychoeducation, anxiety-reducing pedagogy and clear structure
What you bring with you
We are looking for someone who thinks creatively, flexibly and innovatively, and you may have experience with starting something new. Not everything is predetermined in advance, and precisely that provides an opportunity to influence practice, contribute with your professionalism and help create an offering that makes sense.
You can offer
- A teacher education with relevant advanced studies or equivalent relevant continuing education
- Perhaps you have experience with treatment work with children and young people - you at least have the interest
- You can work with regulation strategies, anxiety-reducing and with social training
What you can look forward to
You will become part of a staff group at Ugerløse School, which is a smaller public school from 0th to 6th grade including learning classes. Here you will get wonderful colleagues who are always ready for professional sparring, conversation and laughter.
In addition you will get
- the opportunity to help build a new special education offering from the start
- a strong professional environment with a focus on relationship work
- regular supervision and opportunities for competence development
- close collaboration between teaching and pedagogical expertise
