About the job

Teaching Assistants for the Institute of Biomedicine

The Institute of Biomedicine at the University of Copenhagen is seeking 2 teaching assistants, completed candidates or SUL (students) for employment February 1, 2026 with teaching within Human Biology and Pathophysiology.

About us

The Institute of Biomedicine engages in research-based, clinically relevant teaching and supervision at both bachelor and master's level across several programs at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Responsibilities

The position as teaching assistant is a part-time appointment with the aim of independently handling teaching tasks or teaching that complements teaching conducted at assistant professor, associate professor or professor level.

Specifically in this role teaching is carried out in so-called "cafetimer" on the courses "Human Biology" and "Pathophysiology for non-clinicians" for students from three study lines; Public Health Science, Medicine and Technology as well as Health and Informatics. It is team-based teaching, where you follow the same cohort through the entire course for both courses, and about once a week in 2*45 minutes students perform activating teaching in topics spanning broadly within human biology and pathophysiology, but academically not at the same in-depth level as in medical studies.

The teaching is supplementary to the other teaching in the form of lectures and SAU hours.

Your competences

Both students and graduates can be considered. For graduates

  • that you have a master's degree
  • that you have practical experience within the subject area, and
  • have good communicative/pedagogical competences.

Teaching experience in Physiology/Human Biology as well as Pathophysiology is weighted very highly.

For students

  • that you must be at the master's level, and that you are enrolled at a higher education institution.
  • that you have practical experience within the subject area and
  • have good communicative/pedagogical competences

For students further, the employment ends when your enrollment lapses.

Employment terms

Employment occurs as a teaching assistant according to the Circular on the structure of scientific staff positions at universities and the Circular on hourly paid teaching (for completed graduates) or the Agreement for student teachers at universities etc. (for students)

The concrete hours are set in advance for each semester and paid with an hourly wage of DKK 288.95. Preparation of teaching is paid at 1½ hours per confrontation hour.

For students it also applies that if teaching sessions are repeated within two weeks, full preparation is allocated to the first teaching session and half preparation to the following ones. For assignment grading only pay is given for the time spent on directing the assignments.

Appointment of a teaching assistant with a master's degree is for a period of 3 years.

Appointment of a teaching assistant who is a student lasts until enrollment lapses.

Questions about the positions can be addressed to Associate Professor Andreas Mæchel Fritzen, [email protected]

The following documents should be attached to the application;

  • A motivated application
  • A CV which, in addition to other qualifications, also describes your teaching experiences
  • A master's degree or an official transcript of your grades. If you are a student at KU, you can retrieve it from KUnet in the self-service. Upload the PDF under "examination certificate".

Recruitment process

After the deadline, the hiring manager, with advice from the hiring committee, selects which applicants are to be evaluated. All applicants are immediately informed whether their application has progressed to be evaluated by a professional assessment committee. The selected applicants are informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the evaluation that concerns the applicant themselves.
