About the job

Are you an experienced railway specialist in railway - track and civil works, and would you like to take on professional coordinating responsibility and personnel leadership for a strong team in an environment with high well-being, great integrity and exciting rail projects? Then you might be the one we are looking for as the new team leader for the Track and Civil Engineering Department at SYSTRA Denmark at the Copenhagen, Ørestad office.

Context

A role with a focus on railway expertise

We are seeking a team leader for the Track and Civil Engineering department in Copenhagen. The department works with track and track drainage and is distributed between the offices in Copenhagen and Aarhus. In Aarhus there are six colleagues with one team leader, and in Copenhagen nine colleagues, including the department head. As team leader you will have professional responsibility for the track discipline and line management for 5 employees. You report to the department head.

The role is built around railway expertise – that is where your focus should lie. As team leader you will additionally have personnel responsibility for your own team in Ørestaden. You will also become part of a management group together with the department head and the team leader in Aarhus, where we discuss direction, priorities and development collectively.

The tone here is informal, and integrity and helpfulness form the basis for the department's strong collaboration. We also have an active staff association, a sports club, social events throughout the year, a summer party and Christmas lunch, and every other year a study trip where professional experiences are combined with sociable company and good food.

It is a role with a lot of freedom. We emphasize trust and that you drive your tasks independently – but with a strong team spirit and a focus on making each other better. With us there is long tenure and a work environment characterized by respect, trust and psychological safety – something many stay in the department for a long time because of.

A day-to-day close to the projects

This is a role close to the professional content. You work as a professional resource in the projects, while you coordinate the professional level and ensure coordination across tasks among your group of employees in Copenhagen. This means you contribute to technical solutions, follow up on finances and quality, speak with project managers and customers and help create overview and direction in the projects.

You can communicate technical solutions clearly, whether you speak with your group in Copenhagen or with the customers, and in periods of busy times where quick decisions are needed, you are good at staying calm and ensuring the customers receive the correct advice.

An important part of the role is to support knowledge sharing and ensure that competencies and employees in your group develop in line with the needs of the department and our clients. You also have an eye for advising innovatively and with a sustainable perspective, and you have a good understanding of CAD and other programs used in the railway field.

Mission/Main Duties

We are looking for someone strong in railway expertise

You are an engineer, preferably graduate engineer or civil engineer, with solid experience in the railway sector. You have track discipline insight and may come from a role as discipline lead, design manager or project manager. You may have experience in design, 3D modeling or other relevant knowledge within tracks. The most important is that you have a professional foundation that makes you credible in dialogue with employees, project managers and clients.

There is no requirement that you have leadership experience, but you should have the desire and courage to take on personnel responsibility.

Profile/Skills

Personal competencies

We value that you are quality-conscious with attention to detail, with a focus on ensuring customers receive good deliverables on time and within budget. You are flexible and can jump in when unforeseen tasks appear, and you are easygoing and good with relationships – the role requires you to collaborate with many different people and build trust around you. It is an advantage if you are pragmatic and can find a good way forward and create calm when working with our highly specialized colleagues.

Salary and terms of employment

You will be employed under the AC collective agreement, and the salary is set based on seniority and qualifications.
