About the job

Can you create direction, progress, and well-being in a strong professional team? Are you motivated by people management, operations control, and translating professionalism into concrete results? And would you help ensure a strong foundation for the protection of Denmark's groundwater and drinking water resources? Then you may be our new team leader in the Environmental Protection Agency's Office for Groundwater in Aalborg.

About the office

Groundwater is one of Denmark's most important natural resources. In the Office for Groundwater we work with groundwater mapping so we know where the groundwater is found, how it moves, and how vulnerable it is. That knowledge is crucial for targeted protection of our drinking water resource.

We work cross-disciplinary and in close collaboration with among others GEUS, municipalities, regions, water utilities and external consultants. It requires both strong professional competencies and the ability to collaborate and coordinate across.

The Groundwater Mapping Team consists of about 15 employees with different professional backgrounds, including geologists, engineers and geographers. The team works on groundwater mapping projects within, among others, geology, geophysics, hydrology, geochemistry and project management.

About the job

As team leader you will play a central role in creating good conditions for the employees and ensuring that the team's professionalism is translated into effective, robust, and timely deliveries. Your task is to create direction, overview and forward momentum in the team’s overall portfolio of tasks and ensure high quality within the agreed framework.

You will be responsible for operations management, including to

  • Plan and prioritize tasks, projects, resources and capacity.
  • Follow up on goals, forecasts, production and time use.
  • Ensure quality, progress and stable deliveries.
  • Identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve workflows.
  • Translate data and experiences into better and more efficient task solving.

As a people leader you will be close to the employees in day-to-day work. You support well-being and development through ongoing dialogue, coaching and 1:1 meetings and are responsible, among other things, for PULS and follow-up on development plans. You must create an environment where employees can use and develop their professionalism.

You work closely with the office head and the other team leader in the office and contribute to translating professional standards and strategic decisions into practice.

About you

You have a relevant master's degree and are motivated by leading people and creating good conditions for a strong professional team to succeed. You do not need to be a specialist in groundwater mapping. Knowledge of the area is an advantage, but most important are your leadership, organizational and governance competencies.

We place emphasis on the following

  • Can create structure, prioritize and ensure progress in a complex portfolio of tasks.
  • Can balance consideration for employees, professionalism, operations and deliveries.
  • Can translate goals and strategies into concrete practice and authority actions.
  • Thrives in the intersection of professionalism, administration and politics.
  • Can navigate safely within a public authority organization; experience from the civil service is an advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Is strong in relationships, stakeholder involvement and cross-cutting collaboration.
  • Communicates clearly and can build understanding and support around common goals.
  • Is curious about IT and digital solutions that can support and streamline task solving.
  • Is a present, clear and developing leader who provides direction, coaching and constructive feedback.

We offer you

An exciting leadership position with the opportunity to lead a professionally strong team and contribute to an important societal task: to ensure a strong professional basis for the protection of Denmark's groundwater and drinking water resources.

You will become part of a workplace with high professionalism, flexibility and the possibility of remote work. We have flex time and are a commuter-friendly workplace. Everyday life is characterized by professional deepening, knowledge sharing and collaboration – combined with humor, camaraderie and informal chats over coffee.

The Office for Groundwater consists of two teams. In addition to Groundwater Mapping, the Groundwater & Data team also works with tasks that support groundwater mapping.
