About the job
Our skilled child- and youth-advisers, who every day contribute to ensuring that the most vulnerable small children have a safe childhood, have two team leaders, and one will go on maternity leave at the end of the year. Therefore we are seeking a team leader for a maternity-leave temporary position from January 1, 2027. If you have experience with personnel and/or professional leadership in the authority area for vulnerable children and young people, or if you simply have a burning desire for leadership in the area, then it may be you we are looking for.
You will work closely with the other team leader, who knows the task well, and with the head of department. You will receive an introduction to the work and training in the tasks you need.
The department consists, in addition to the three leaders, of an authority group with 15 child- and youth advisers, an adoption team with two employees, a safety plan group with eight employees, five day-care social workers, two family advisors and three student assistants.
We primarily work with the youngest children – from pregnancy to and including seven years old.
About the position
As a team leader in the maternity-leave replacement, you will have personnel responsibility for about half of the 15 child- and youth advisers in the authority group and possibly for the adoption team. The two team leaders and the head of department divide some of the leadership tasks between themselves, and the precise distribution between you and us will depend on who you are.
Regardless of how we concretely distribute tasks among us in connection with your appointment, you will, in close cooperation with the head of department and the other team leader, be responsible for contributing to the professional, personnel, strategic, and operational leadership and development of the department.
Your primary tasks will be to
- co-share responsibility for the operation and development of the authority work in the child- and youth adviser group, with a particular focus on deadline adherence and inclusion.
- support the advisers in task solving and professional development through sparring, case reviews, discussions, participation in meetings, etc.
- establish and maintain good collaborative relationships with day-care institutions, supportive and placement services, as well as our family therapists and psychologists
- contribute to and elevate development and operational tasks in the unit, where you will also take on projects or tasks that match your competencies and the unit’s needs.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a team leader who is socially and professionally strong, with high ambitions for case processing, both regarding deadline adherence and collaboration with the families we contact. You are passionate about working to ensure the welfare and development of the youngest children with close involvement of children, parents, and the rest of the network around the families – both professionally and personally. It would be an advantage if you also have experience with the placement area, including coerced placements and possibly the adoption area, but this is not a requirement.
We value that you
- have the ability to achieve results through others and contribute to a learning culture where we are not afraid to fail, but where we take mistakes seriously and learn from them
- have good collaboration and communication skills as well as the ability to build cross-disciplinary alliances focused on the common task
- can navigate the complexity of cases involving young children and set directions in the professional work
- have an overview and can prioritize in busy situations
- are good at giving feedback – both constructive criticism and recognition of professional successes
- have a keen sense of leadership and a desire to be part of a leadership group where we collaborate on the unit’s development
- can lead with trust and a focus on the core task in line with the professional direction and the set goals
- have a good understanding of being a leader in a politically governed organization and can translate political decisions and the Social Administration’s strategies into practice
- express yourself clearly and are good at planning and implementing changes with openness, inclusion, and transparency.
Experience in leadership or coordination from the social-professional field is an advantage but not a requirement.
