About the job

Are you a strong people leader with professional interest in administration and the Danish forests? Do you want to have responsibility for a team that works at the intersection of public administration and natural science?

The Danish Agency for Green Area Reallocation and Water Environment (SGAV) plays a key role in the green transition. In the Forest Unit it is our task to contribute to, among other things, the afforestation goals in the Green Three-Party Agreement and to ensure a balance between use and protection of forests and nature - we do this nationally and internationally.

We are organized into three teams, and we are seeking a team leader for one of the teams that administers forest law and is responsible for case processing. The team handles mainly orders on protected forests, exemptions and approval cases, the notification scheme and afforestation.

Your role as team leader in SGAV

As team leader in Forest you will be responsible for both the day-to-day operation of your team and for the staff's well-being and development. You must be a leader who can set direction, motivate your employees and ensure progress in task completion. You must also be able to make the necessary daily prioritizations of tasks and resources. Work in the unit is characterized by legal and natural science issues solved in close collaboration. You must therefore be able to lead a cross-disciplinary environment.

At the same time, you must be able to coordinate closely with the other two team leaders. Finally you must have a good understanding of effective operations and a curiosity about and desire to work digitally and use it to support and streamline case processing.

We place emphasis on you

  • Have experience as a people leader and knowledge of forests as a field
  • Have an academic education
  • Have knowledge of and experience with public administration
  • Thrive in leading through dialogue, trust and clear frameworks
  • Takes responsibility for your own tasks as well as the team's development
  • Are an approachable and visible leader who thrives on supporting employees in their daily work and ensuring well-being

What we offer in the Forest Unit

In Forest you join a strong management collaboration while you also take responsibility for your own case areas. Since the unit is organized with three teams at three locations in the country (Hinnerup, Odense and Nykøbing Falster), we have a strong focus on close and trusting collaboration, which must function remotely in everyday life but also with prioritized meetings together. The unit has a head of office and consists of about 45 employees. We have natural science staff, generalists and lawyers.

The work in the unit sits at the crossroads between natural science knowledge, legislation and public administration, and we largely solve our tasks by combining different professional fields and in collaboration with other units in the agency.

You will become part of a leadership group where we collectively set common goals and direction for the unit. We emphasize dialogue and trust, where there is room to speak openly—both when something works and when something could be improved.

Employment terms

You will be employed as a chief consultant with personnel management in accordance with the current agreement for academics in the state, and there will be an opportunity to negotiate allowances based on qualifications.

The employing area is the Ministry of Nature & Animal Welfare with associated institutions and the service location is the Agency for Green Area Reallocation and Water Environment, Fejøgade 1, 4800 Nykøbing F.

It is a permanent full-time position, to be filled as soon as possible.
