About the job
The Department of Roads and Public Spaces (formerly Mobility) is seeking a planner who is passionate about connecting citizens' wishes and the council's visions for roads, paths and public spaces with concrete solution proposals
The mobility agenda occupies a great deal of political attention and for the individual Aarhus resident. There are therefore many wishes for the future of mobility and which considerations the design of our roads, paths and public spaces must be able to handle. Realising the green agenda, better accessibility on the overall road network, peaceful residential areas and many other topics are just some of the agendas that Roads and Public Spaces handles.
About the job
You may, among other things, come to work with
- Updating the Mobility Plan for the City of Aarhus
- Planning the strategic road network in Aarhus Municipality
- Developing public space and climate adaptation projects
- Coordinating tasks in the Roads and Districts professional group
- Coordinating the municipality's construction program for traffic infrastructure
- Developing traffic solutions in collaboration with the municipality's 37 councils
- Providing political support and advisory services for our political leadership
- Responding to citizen and business inquiries
Roads and Public Spaces is a flexible department, and we will to the greatest extent try to match your task portfolio with your interests and competencies. Your concrete tasks will therefore also depend on your professional profile.
We offer a developing job and good collegiality
The position is placed in the Department of Roads and Public Spaces, which today consists of 14 people plus a department head. The department is divided into three professional groups – Active Mobility, Public Space and Climate Adaptation, and Roads and Districts. Your primary professional group in the department will be Roads and Districts, but there is also an opportunity to contribute with tasks in the other groups.
Roads and Districts is a professional group that handles the planning of our overarching road network, strategic mobility plans and smaller construction projects in dialogue with local residents, councils and business actors. In practice, you will experience that you will have many collaboration interfaces across the entire department as well as to other departments in Technical and Environmental.
Although your primary professional group is Roads and Districts, we work from a holistic approach. In daily work you will have close collaboration with the department's other functions. This means you will work closely with colleagues who are passionate about everything from promoting cycling and green public spaces to traffic management and traffic safety – so we ensure that our solutions work together across professional boundaries.
You will become part of a community with high professionalism, bad humor and a lot of willingness to pull together. We are here for various reasons, but the common goal is to contribute to a better Aarhus every day. Therefore you will always experience that you can get help and sparring for the tasks you have.
Who are you?
We would like you to be able to nod to several of the criteria below
- Experience with project management
- Experience with public administration
- Good collaboration skills and ability to work independently.
- The ability to translate ideas and strategies into concrete project proposals.
- Experience with traffic analyses and mobility planning.
- A strong and broad professional foundation within the mobility area and knowledge of the road rules area
- An analytical, holistic and creative approach to task solving.
- A good ability to structure and create overview in processes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
