About the job

Are you motivated by a job with meaning, do you want to contribute to protecting society's critical functions and do you have solid experience with ISO 27001 from a large and complex organization? The Armed Forces are in full development, with changes in the threat landscape and new technologies increasingly demanding digital resilience and managerial priorities. Therefore we need more employees with professional depth who understand the interaction between core tasks and technology, and who can translate that into a managerial decision basis.

About the section and our tasks

In the section we work from the principles of risk and materiality, focusing on ensuring that the efforts reflect the effects. We therefore need the frameworks and guidelines to live at the operational levels and to continuously adapt to changes in core tasks. After a recent reorganization of the security area, the section for Cyber and Information Security and Data Protection has moved closer to the core tasks.

This means we are in the process of settling into a new part of the organization, while at the same time having a unique opportunity to evaluate past experiences and improve the effort going forward. The task therefore requires that you can see yourself landing in a period of major changes and find pragmatic solutions in a context characterized by rapid development.

About the position

As our new colleague you will be part of the Defence Command's section for Cyber and Information Security and Data Protection. The section sets the framework for the overall compliance with ISO 27001 in the Ministry of Defence's group and our focus is centered on the core tasks, the operational mission and the societal-critical assets that support this. We seek a profile with a high professional level who understands risk management and the interaction between governance, risk and compliance.

A profile that has the experience and courage to prioritise in a complex governance framework and who can understand how we best translate it into operational effects.

The section is located in the Defence Command's Operations Staff. The position is located either in Copenhagen or Karup, depending on you. Please indicate in your application where you wish to apply.

Role and responsibilities

As a specialist within cyber and information security you have broad knowledge of the area's various disciplines, and you are able to solve tasks that require both coordination and advisory. At the same time you are pragmatic, and you are not afraid to contribute to the concrete task solution yourself when necessary.

In a busy daily life you manage to keep an overview, enabling you to see connections horizontally and vertically in the organization, so you understand needs and consequences and can plan the task solution accordingly. Since we are hiring several profiles, there is an opportunity to help design your own position.

Specifically we are seeking a specialist who can work with one or more of the following areas:

  • Development, operation and maintenance of the Defence's management system for cyber and information security in accordance with common state requirements for ISO 27001 implementation, as well as requirements from other stakeholders.
  • Risk management, including facilitation of the preparation of risk assessments, risk handling and -reporting.
  • Case processing and reporting on compliance measurements as well as internal and external inspections and audits.
  • Coordination of cyber- and information security efforts across the organization, including representation, participation and contribution to group-wide working groups.

Limited travel activity should be expected, as our section is distributed between Copenhagen and Karup. We meet about once a month and also visit Defence authorities around the Realm in the Commonwealth.

Your profile

Cyber and information security is a complex work area that encompasses all parts of the Defence and is constantly evolving. We seek candidates with high professionalism and judgement.

We would like you to have a background as either an information security coordinator, risk manager, IT project manager or cyber and information security consultant/specialist

It is emphasized that you

  • Can create overview and structure in the complex.
  • Are willing to apply your professionalism in advising management and risk owners.
  • Are strong in written products, and you are able to present complex issues in a language that employees and management without special knowledge of the area can understand.
  • Have experience from larger organizations and preferably from a public authority.
  • Can maintain direction and professionalism in an organization with changing priorities and can see synergies with other disciplines within security, e.g., data protection and physical security.

Different professional perspectives or educational backgrounds are considered a strength.

What can we offer?

  • Make a concrete difference in one of society's important functions.
  • Good colleagues and sparring in a team with broad experience and different expertise.
  • Become part of a dedicated security organization that cares about your development, and that you have tasks that motivate you.
  • Ongoing further education and courses. What you do not know, we will make sure you are told!
  • Flexibility to combine an exciting working life with private- and family life. It is possible to work from home on an ad hoc basis.

Conditions of employment

Employment is in accordance with the current Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Civil Service Area (OAO-S collective agreement) and the Organization Agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT employees (HK) in the state.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility for negotiating a supplement. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Karup or Copenhagen depending on your preferences and our needs.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence's area you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

You as an employee have a duty to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.
