The Ministry of Industry's department seeks a new Director of Business Policy

Then you may be the business policy director we are seeking for the Ministry of Industry's department.

About the job

The business policy director is responsible for driving policy development and implementation in a range of business policy areas of central importance to Danish companies’ competitiveness. The topics span broadly from general industrial policy, to strengths such as life science, food and green transition, to the defence industry and Ukraine response, as well as innovation, research, entrepreneurship, patents, venture capital and business promotion.

As the business policy director you will work purposefully to create competitive and innovative growth conditions for Danish business across the country. The work is carried out in interaction with other ministries and agencies – and in close dialogue with Danish industry. As the business policy director you will perform an outward-facing role in collaboration with external partners and stakeholders. You also represent the Ministry of Industry in a number of boards, including the Danish Industrial Promotion Board, and you are responsible for the relationship with Denmark's Export and Investment Fund (EIFO).

You will become part of the department’s management and the ministry’s corporate leadership and are expected, in this context, to actively contribute to the department’s and the ministry’s operations and development.

About you

You have solid leadership experience and thus the necessary competencies to lead a number of offices in the department and make decisions that ensure efficient and appropriate task execution. You are collaborative and able to create well-functioning relationships both internally in the department, across the corporate group and with the ministry’s external partners and stakeholders.

You understand reading the political situation, have a good sense of what should be prioritized and have a sharp, strategic view of the business policy area. You find energy in driving an agenda forward and supporting government decisions with solid decision-making basis.

We expect that you have a relevant social science education and documented leadership experience. You exercise motivating and clear leadership, have a sharp strategic view for developments in your field and work purposefully and results-oriented. At the same time you have impact and strong communication skills.

It is emphasized that you have had a career path that can match the job of director in a department – and that you have the ability to collaborate in a politically charged environment.

About the employment

The appointment is made under the framework agreement on the appointment of managers in the state in salary group 3. The appointment is for a 5-year term with the possibility of extension up to 3 years.
