About the job
A national pesticide ban, more protected marine nature and a new nature and biodiversity act are some of the many topics we at the Ministry of Environment will communicate about in the coming period. Therefore we need you to convey them on social media, where a large number of Danes get their news.
A national pesticide ban became one of the election's very big themes. That's clear. Clean drinking water, that's understandable. But it is only one among many important matters we deal with at the Ministry of Environment. We work with environmental quality requirements for environmentally harmful substances and with engine power on mussel boats in the Limfjord.
At bottom line it's about a healthy marine environment and sustainable fisheries. We are just incredibly good at packaging otherwise important and exciting matters into dull words.
Therefore we need you.
We are looking for a video journalist who can find the story in the complicated and tell it simply, visually and precisely. Someone who can see a narrative, find the right format and carry it all the way from idea to finished video.
You grab the phone when a story arises, and can also plan the larger production when a political initiative requires more.
You should be able to
- spot the good story in heavy reports and analyses and translate it into content that works on social media.
- develop short, strong formats – reels, explainers, interviews and other visual devices – that make people stop scrolling in their feed.
- preserve professional precision, while language and storytelling become simple enough for social media.
- plan and publish content around political initiatives, current media agendas, minister visits and other events – in close collaboration with the press team.
- evaluate and develop content based on data about what works and what doesn’t.
Environmental policy is among the most important topics for Danes, and therefore we have a special focus on communicating the government's and the ministry's work through several different platforms, including social media. But Instagram, reels, Facebook, stories and LinkedIn are not our strong suit, therefore we need someone who understands the logics and algorithms that social media are built on, and who can produce environmental policy content that breaks through the sound barrier. Whether it's the right clip of a video, graphics that capture, or something else.
About us
You will become part of the Press and Communications Department, and your work will take place in close collaboration with the press team, which handles the ministry's press phone and plans press actions and communications around the government's political initiatives. The department also includes a speechwriter, a communications adviser and a media graphics apprentice. You will also work closely with our many professional experts across the specialist offices.
We try, as far as possible, to plan as well as we can, but there may also be a need to move quickly if a golden opportunity presents itself, or if there is an agenda that runs in the media, that should be seized and followed up on social media.
We have high ambitions for what we do, and work closely together in a daily life with both tight deadlines and larger planned initiatives. And we prioritize a good social community and a department where people help each other.
About you
The most important thing is that you can tell stories visually – and that you can show us that. You may have a background as a video journalist, journalist, photographer, content creator, graphic designer or something completely different. Your educational title is less important than what you can produce.
We imagine that you
- have documented experience with video and content for social media.
- can manage the entire video process from idea and script to filming, editing, subtitling and publishing.
- have journalistic or political acumen and can see the angle in a complicated issue.
- have an eye for framing, sound, light and editing and can deliver quickly without compromising on quality.
- can create simple and effective graphics and visualizations.
- can work in e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro and preferably After Effects/Photoshop or similar programs.
- can record professionally with both camera and phone.
- write Danish confidently and error-free.
- is independent, imaginative and good at working closely with others.
When you apply, we would very much like to see 3-5 examples of videos or other visual content you have played a significant role in producing. Please briefly describe what your role was in each production.
