About the job
Do you want to help ensure good financial management of projects that make a difference for nature, climate and the environment?
We are seeking a skilled and engaged environmental economist , who wants to work with project economics and help ensure that our projects are implemented on a solid financial basis. As an environmental economist you will become an important sparring partner for project managers and professional colleagues. You will have a central role in creating an overview of the finances in the projects, following up on consumption and budgets, and supporting that financial decisions are made on a well-informed basis.
Become part of the Nature Projects Unit
You will become part of a unit at the Nature Agency's headquarters in the picturesque Randbøl between Vejle and Billund. The unit is responsible for portfolio management of low-lying land and wetland projects, where agricultural land is set aside to benefit climate and the water environment. The projects are carried out on private land in close collaboration with Nature Agency's 16 local units.
We are a relatively new unit, distributed across two teams, with diverse professional backgrounds, including lawyers, economists and agricultural specialists.
Your tasks
You will, among other things,
- Manage the financial follow-up on a portfolio of projects
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and financial follow-ups
- Monitor project economics closely and identify deviations and financial risks
- Advise and spar with project managers on financial management and financial dispositions
- Contribute to financial assessments in connection with new projects and project changes
- Prepare project-relevant environmental-economic analyses and decision briefs
- Prepare and support reporting to management and relevant partners
- Contribute to developing and professionalising the Nature Agency's work with project economics
You will have a broad interface within the organization and will work closely with both project managers, financial staff and professional specialists.
Who are you?
You are a trained environmental economist (cand.scient.oecon) with an interest in environmental and project-economic issues.
As well as this, it is important that you
- Have strong economic and analytical competencies
- Work in a structured manner and have an eye for both details and the big picture
- Can analyse economic issues and translate them into concrete recommendations
- Are good at collaboration and creating constructive dialogue with project managers and professional colleagues
- Can communicate economics in a way that is understandable to colleagues without an economic background
- Take responsibility for your tasks and see them through.
It is an advantage if you have experience with project economics, financial management or working in a public organization, but it is not a requirement.
A workplace with meaning
At the Nature Agency you become part of a nationwide governmental agency that works to manage Denmark's natural heritage, combat climate change and improve the water environment.
As an environmental economist you will have the opportunity to use your economic competencies in an organization where the work has concrete significance for nature, climate and society. You become part of a professional environment where economics is not in isolation but integrated with natural sciences, project management and governmental duties.
We offer
- A meaningful job with great societal significance
- A central role in the financial management of exciting nature projects
- A broad interface and close collaboration with skilled professionals
- Opportunity to develop your skills within project economics and public financial management
- A workplace focused on professionalism, collaboration and well-being
