About the job
Would you like to use your legal expertise to make a difference in an organization whose ambition is to be the best place for the best ideas? And would you like to be part of a completely fantastic and well-functioning team? Then the position as staff lawyer in HR Law at the Southern Campus Administration might be just for you!
University of Copenhagen is Denmark's largest university and enjoys international recognition. Our employees are passionate, dedicated to lifelong knowledge and learning.
HR at the University of Copenhagen is organized into three HR centers and a group entity linked to the common university administration.
In HR Law, Søndre, we are now looking for an experienced jurist who wants to advise managers and assist good colleagues with many diverse and exciting tasks within personnel law.
Your tasks
The core assignment for you as a staff lawyer at the university is to independently advise managers at all levels on the employment law area, e.g.,
- Handling of sick leave, performance, and conduct cases
- Handling of harassment cases
- Handling of complaints
- The job structure at the university
- Major processes related to involuntary dismissal
In addition, you will advise and support your colleagues in the HR center's administration, HR development partners and colleagues in the international area. The role also includes presenting on legal and procedural matters and other assistance for competence development as well as sparring in concrete cases and inquiries. There is also concrete legal casework in the administrative law and data protection law areas, etc.
In addition to the general employment law rules in the state, there is a special set of rules for recruitment and employment of scientific personnel at universities in Denmark (the job structure), which we advise managers about. If you are not yet familiar with the rules, this will be something we help you to learn as one of the first tasks.
As a staff lawyer and advisor you will typically be at the forefront of HR center solutions and the communication of these. You will have the opportunity to work with broad personnel law and delve into selected specialty areas and work to ensure legal updates and support compliance so that we as a total unit deliver the highest quality.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in various knowledge groups and spar with other HR centers at Nord and Frederiksberg as well as group HR. At HR Søndre we have, in collaboration with other legal units in HR, started an exciting project on compliance in HR.
We offer a varied job with good development opportunities
With us you will get a job with many development opportunities – both professionally and personally.
At the University of Copenhagen you will become part of one of Denmark's largest HR organizations with almost 250 HR employees, of which we are about 60 at Søndre Campus. We emphasize that we are part of a larger and very good collaboration with colleagues from the other two HR centers and group HR.
Our unit - HR Law at Søndre Campus - consists of three teams, which in addition to the law team include the Faculty VIP area (scientific personnel – professors, lecturers etc.) and a data team.
We support and advise the management and units at the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Theology and Campus Søndre.
At HR Søndre we offer
- A professionally exciting and varied task portfolio
- Insight into the university world and the special framework here
- Frameworks for qualified advising of scientific and administrative leaders
- Very well-functioning teams with a focus on good collegial spirit and good mood
The physical premises at Søndre Campus are attractive, and we are located on Campus by Islands Brygge, where students and researchers also have their daily routines. You will therefore become part of the special atmosphere at a university.
We have flexible working conditions and the possibility of remote work. And there are also massage schemes, free parking and a metro right next to the Campus.
About you
You are educated cand.jur., cand.merc.jur. or similar. You have broad experience within the employment law area – for example from the public sector. We also welcome an application from you if your experience comes from the private sector. It is a great advantage if you have knowledge of the university world and the administrative law area.
You deliver high quality and understand that it is crucial to provide good and fast advice to our clients. You are a skilled communicator in writing and speech, and you can use English as a working language.
As an experienced staff lawyer you will quickly have the opportunity to work independently and manage specialist areas, and your colleagues will help you along the way in the first period.
We expect that you
- Are solution-oriented
- Focus on a good balance between compliance and the organization's needs
- Are able to handle several tasks at once
- Take responsibility for your own cases, ensure progress and follow your tasks through to the end
- Have an understanding of the people involved when solving difficult cases
- Collaborate and share knowledge with your colleagues
- Contribute to well-being and the good community
Your salary and employment terms
You will be employed as a Senior Consultant or Chief Consultant under the applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Academics of the State (AC agreement) or another relevant agreement depending on your experience and competencies. There is the possibility of negotiating additional pay based on your qualifications.
The weekly working time is on average 37 hours, but we are open to requests for a shorter weekly working time.
Where you will work
HR Søndre is located at Njalsgade 76, 2300 Copenhagen S (Islands Brygge).

Starting date will be 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
