About the job

From nursing homes to the care of the future that's close to citizens

Do you want, together with two department heads, to lead a newly established department and help set the direction for a completely new Center for Nursing Homes to benefit residents in Copenhagen Municipality?

The Health and Care Administration (SUF) is in an exciting time marked by important reforms and a new organization that consolidates tasks into ten centers and aims to bring the administration closer to citizens, closer to operations and closer to partners.

We are seeking two ambitious department heads who can translate strategic goals into action and help develop a more citizen-focused, coherent and innovative care sector together with a third department head. As part of the management team you will be responsible for creating a well-functioning and safe nursing home area, where citizens experience meaningful everyday life, high professional quality and care for citizens with complex care needs.

About the center and the tasks

The center's task is to support the management task at the nursing homes, etc. by ensuring common workflows and standards, resource management and local initiative close to residents, relatives and staff. Some of the areas of responsibility you will have as department head are

  • Strategic and professional development of the framework in the nursing home area
  • Operations of nursing homes, including self-managed nursing homes and collaboration with private nursing homes, as well as temporary care places and activity centers
  • Ensure health and care professional quality
  • Hygienic and nutritional interventions and meaningful meal situations
  • Dementia-related and relative involvement as well as the Care Hotline

About the position

Based on the center's main tasks, you, together with your two leadership colleagues, will work on coordination, development and further development of task solutions for the benefit of the center's units and the entire organization in a trio leadership. In the first instance you will as a leadership team focus on ensuring a trusting and supportive collaboration with the managers at the nursing homes, activity centers, Copenhagen Food Service and Technical Service in Copenhagen Municipality.

At the same time ensuring a good working environment in the center with a high degree of motivation and psychological safety.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead employees across professional disciplines, read about the management foundation in SUF here
  • Together with the unit managers take shared responsibility to ensure stable operations and high quality at nursing homes, activity centers and municipal care places
  • Proactively contribute to the strategic ambition to create a coherent nursing home area with focus on care, safety and professionalism
  • Ensure systematic coordination and action as well as follow-up on efforts in the units
  • Follow up on deviations in data and results and in this context ensure necessary cross-cutting coordination of the solution – both across the center and across the entire administration
  • Ensure prioritization of resources, efforts and task solving

About you

We imagine that you are either a generalist with a health professional background or have an academic background or perhaps another relevant education. In addition you have

  • Leadership training and cross-disciplinary leadership experience
  • Experience from the health or care sector
  • Experience with implementing larger organizational changes or cross-cutting projects
  • A high degree of personal integrity, including the ability to build strong relationships, act independently, but also as part of a leadership team

SUF and your leadership style

In SUF we have a number of leadership values that are not just words, but the way we lead and manage.

When we write "the citizen at the center" it concretely means putting the citizen's wishes and needs at the center of all decisions. The management prioritizes self-determination, listening to citizens and creates proximity and coherent support. It is about creating a culture where the citizen's experience of influence and quality is at the forefront.

And when we say "trust-based leadership style" emphasis is on building and showing trust in employees and partners. The management is visible, respectful and gives professional elbow room, which we believe promotes a work environment characterized by mutual respect, inclusion and engagement. It is about creating a foundation for professional autonomy and shared responsibility. Just as "community-oriented leadership style" means that we promote cross-disciplinary collaboration and collective solutions.

The management actively works to strengthen cooperation across sectors, employees, citizens and relatives. Focus is on creating strong communities where different professionalities and interests contribute to the best solutions for the citizen. If you can nod to our values and would like to stand for them, we have a good starting point to succeed.

You have political acumen, organizational insight and process understanding, which is essential to navigate in a often complex organizational context, and you ensure that your decisions and initiatives are well-considered and strategically anchored.
