About the job

Are you interested in microbiology and infectious diseases? Then here is the opportunity to work in an exciting professional environment with engaged colleagues and broad contact with clinicians.

At Clinical Microbiology, Aarhus University Hospital in Skejby, two one-year introductory positions (6620-32-63-i-03) and (6620-32-63-i-04) are available for occupancy respectively on 1 February 2027 and 15 February 2027, or by agreement.

The positions are part of the department's six-shift medical on-call rota, consisting of daytime service with subsequent on-call outside the duty location until 23:00, every day of the week. The department has consultants in round-the-clock backup on call.

The successful candidate will handle tasks related to clinical microbiological diagnostics and advisory services, and actively participate in the department's teaching. You must also daily contribute to the good interdisciplinary working and educational environment.

We place a high value on the professional role, including being independent, taking responsibility, showing initiative, bringing engagement and willingness to collaborative relations, being able to juggle many tasks at once, and having a focus on patient safety. The roles are busy, and you must be efficient in making decisions and completing tasks, as well as adept at switching between tasks. The positions are full-time, i.e. 37 hours per week on average.

We would like you to have an educational aim with the appointment, and to have good clinical experience. The position is targeted at doctors who have not previously completed an introductory position in the specialty.

The department is one of the country’s largest and most specialized microbiological departments, which covers clinical microbiology for hospitals, specialists and general practitioners throughout the Central Denmark Region. We work with all areas of the specialty, including bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology and infection control.

The department trains specialists in clinical microbiology in both introductory and main training programs.

We can offer a workplace and a specialty in development with a good collegial working climate. There will be good opportunities to be introduced to research, as the department is research-active and has good research facilities.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. The appointment is conditional on a satisfactory child-safeguarding certificate and a satisfactory authorization.

If you are interested in the positions, you are very welcome to visit us in the department on 24 November from 8:30 to 14:30. This also applies if you would like to be employed at Clinical Microbiology at a later date.

If you would like to hear more about the positions, the department or to sign up for our visit day, please feel free to contact the training manager, lead consultant Marianne Kragh Thomsen, at telephone 7845 5652 or email [email protected].
