About the job
Do you want to help create safe, developmentally supportive and meaningful frames for children and young people with varying support needs? Spiren is seeking two educated, engaged and professionally curious pedagogical assistants who want to become part of a social- and special-pedagogical environment where relationships, well-being, development and care are at the center.
About Spiren
Spiren is a respite service for children and young people aged 0-18 with various physical, mental and cognitive disabilities.
Spiren is organizationally placed under the Family and Counseling Center in Randers Municipality
Children and youths come in individual rotation periods, planned with the individual family’s need for respite as the starting point. This means that, in periods, we work closely and intensively with the individual child or young person during their stay, while several weeks may pass before the child or young person returns. This requires continuity, relationship-building and knowledge sharing across the stays.
Our overall ambition is to create a specialized offering with safe and developmentally supportive frames, where the individual child or young person experiences well-being, participation, personal mastery and the greatest possible degree of self- and co-determination.
A target group with different resources and needs
At Spiren you meet a broad and diverse target group. This means that resources, level of functioning and need for support vary from child to child and from young person to young person.
Some children and young people are largely self-reliant and primarily need pedagogical support, structure, verbal guidance and help navigating social contexts and everyday activities.
Others have more extensive functional impairments and need close daily support. Here the task may also involve personal care, transfers and practical caregiving tasks.
Across the target group there may be a need for support in areas such as communication, structure and predictability, social interaction, emotional regulation and sensory processing.
Your pedagogical task
As a pedagogical assistant at Spiren you will become an important part of the children’s and youths’ time with us. You will help create recognizable, safe and meaningful frames and at the same time be able to adapt your pedagogical approach to the individual child’s or young person’s daily form, resources and needs.
The work spans a wide range and includes various social- and special-pedagogical tasks, tailored to the individual child’s or young person’s resources, prerequisites and support needs. Tasks may include structure and guidance, support for participation and development as well as personal care and practical caregiving tasks. Therefore, you must be able to work independently and in a structured manner, while actively cooperating in professional collaboration with your colleagues.
The daily life at Spiren is varied, and activities are based on each child’s or young person’s needs, interests and resources. This can include creative activities, outings, playground activities and car rides. There is also room for curiosity, creativity and to seize the child’s or young person’s initiatives and experiment with activities that are meaningful for the individual.
An important part of the job is also to observe, document and reflect on the pedagogical effort so that our practice can continually develop and adapt to the individual child or young person.
Collaboration with the child’s or young person’s parents and other relevant partners is likewise an important part of the pedagogical task and contributes to coherence and continuity around the individual child or young person.
Our professional foundation
Our pedagogical work is based on neuro-pedagogy and KRAP, and we work with individual approaches based on ASK, Low Arousal and TEACCH-inspired structured pedagogy.
We emphasize an appreciative and resource-focused approach, where we are curious about the child’s or young person’s resources, needs and mastery strategies and how we as professionals with this foundation can support well-being, development and mastery.
We are looking for someone who...
- is trained as a pedagogical assistant and wants to work within the social- and special-pedagogical field
- meets children and young people with presence, care, curiosity and respect
- can see resources and development opportunities – also when a child or young person has extensive support needs
- can adapt your communication and pedagogical approach to the individual child or young person
- can maintain calm and an overview in situations where the child or young person needs the adult to create safety and structure
- is prepared for the job to include pedagogical, practical and caregiving tasks
- works independently and systematically and at the same time sees professional and cross-disciplinary collaboration as an important part of the core task
- can express yourself professionally both orally and in writing
- is flexible, stable and actively contributes to a good professional and collegial environment.
With us you get...
- a safe and developmental work environment where professional sparring, open dialogue and collegial support are a natural part of everyday life. We emphasize a work community where we take responsibility for both the joint task solving and each other’s well-being
- an engaged professional community with room for differences, where we help each other and are curious about our own and each other’s practice
- a workplace with a clear social- and special-pedagogical foundation
- a daily life with a varied target group and diverse pedagogical tasks
- a workplace in a scenic natural setting with good opportunities for outdoor life, movement and activities both on and off the premises
- influence on task solving and the possibility to bring your professionalism, creativity and ideas into play
- colleagues and management who focus on high professional quality in the work with the children and youths.
In the Family- and Counseling Center we are currently implementing a new mindset “The Organization Thinks Together.”
This means that we increasingly want to involve employees in decisions and give them room to be co-creators of daily pedagogical practice.
