About the job

Do you want to help set direction and show the way in daily life?

Troldehaven is seeking a Department Head.

Would you like to use your pedagogical experience in a role with more responsibility? And do you thrive on collaborating with colleagues and getting everyday planning to hang together?

Then I would like to meet you.

At Troldehaven we are looking for a Department Head who will be close to the children and the staff and help me develop our childcare house. We have around 130 children in the toddler and kindergarten groups and we are part of Vordingborg Municipality.

About me and the ambitions for Troldehaven

My name is Louise and I am the Head of Early Childhood Services. My ambition is a childcare house where all children experience the joy of playing, exploring and belonging in a community.

We must be curious about their perspectives and create frameworks where they can participate in different ways. It requires that we use our professional knowledge, examine our practice and adapt it to the children.

I also want a house where we help each other across groups and share both knowledge and good experiences. Where there is room for questions, new ideas and honest conversations, so we become wiser together.

As our upcoming Department Head, you will play an important role in that work. I look forward to hearing your perspectives and finding solutions together with you and our colleagues. You can expect a leader who listens, is clear about expectations and prioritizes our collaboration.

What you will be part of

You report to me as Head of Early Childhood Services. I have the leadership and personnel responsibility, and we will agree on your areas of responsibility and your room to maneuver, so you have a good basis to work independently.

Your tasks will mainly be

To create coherence in daily life

You lead and distribute the daily work and plan staffing, holidays, absence and meetings across the house. Here you will need your experience with schedule planning and working time rules, both in the long-term plan and when something changes.

To support colleagues in their work

You provide professional sparring, facilitate group meetings and help new staff settle well into the house. You are close to practice and can bring questions and observations to our joint discussions.

To contribute to the pedagogical development

We take our starting point from Vordingborg Municipality's quality strategy for day care 2026–2029 and use KIDS in the work with quality. You support staff observations and professional reflection and help translate our goals into concrete changes in everyday life. Together we follow up on what the initiatives mean for the children. You also participate in parent meetings and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

To make documentation usable

You support me and the staff with minutes and administrative tasks. You write clearly and professionally, distinguish between observations, statements and assessments and make agreements and follow-ups clearly visible. You thrive with journaling and ensure that the material is correctly registered and handled in various systems.

You participate in the work with the children. The balance between practice and department head duties can vary from week to week and is planned according to tasks and house resources.

Troldehaven has extended opening hours from 05:45 to 19:00 . Therefore you must be able to take on both early and late shifts. Your working hours are planned within opening hours with regard to your tasks and the needs of the house.

What we hope you bring

You are a trained pedagog with solid experience, preferably from day care. You work securely with schedule planning and working time rules, have strong written skills and experience with administrative tasks.

You have an eye for both people and organization. You can keep overview, follow agreements to the letter and meet others respectfully, even when you see a situation differently. You have an understanding of the common framework and decisions we work within as a municipal childcare house.

We provide an introduction to the house, the systems and the tasks. With regular sparring conversations we have time to review everyday life and follow your development in the role.

Come and meet us

You are very welcome to call and arrange a visit. I would like to show you the house and talk with you about what you are seeking in your next job.

In your application I would like to hear what makes you eager for the position, and which experiences you would take with you. Please tell us about your work with professional sparring, administrative tasks, planning and documentation.

The 7th of November we hold a pedagogical Saturday together with the consulting firm Genklang, where we work on Troldehaven's professional direction and future. If possible for our upcoming Department Head, we would like to invite you. It will be a good occasion to meet colleagues and gain insight into the work you will become a part of. Participation is not a condition for employment.
