Apply for the position
Would you like to contribute to good childhoods through research on children and young people's learning and well-being? Are you interested in what works, eager to try your hand at research tasks, and curious whether a research career is something for you? Then we have one or more exciting positions as a scientific assistant at Tryg Foundation's Children’s Research Center.
The Tryg Foundation's Children’s Research Center is an interdisciplinary research center at Aarhus University, where we study whether interventions in early childhood education, schools and in the social sector work in practice. The center belongs to the Department of Economics in close collaboration with the Department of Political Science and the Department of Communication and Culture. To support the researchers in conducting randomized trials and other research projects, the center has a research secretariat currently consisting of a center director and nine staff members.
About the positions
We are seeking one or more new colleagues who can support the center's researchers in carrying out statistical analysis tasks as well as other tasks related to one or more research projects. In daily work you report to the center's head and work closely with the center's scientific and administrative staff.
Professional and personal qualifications
We are seeking staff with a relevant master's degree, e.g., political science, economics, politics and economics, psychology, sociology or similar.
It is important that you have strong competencies in quantitative methods and experience with data analysis in STATA, SAS and/or R. Additionally, the following competencies are also relevant:
- A strong understanding of empirical data analysis and familiarity with randomised trials or other methods for scientific effect measurements.
- Familiarity with relevant data in the children and youth domain or in Denmark Statistics registries.
- Knowledge of children's development from theory or practice.
- Knowledge of and experience with data collection, e.g., in the form of questionnaires, tests, interviews or observation.
It is also important that you
- are comfortable in a coordinating role, where you interact with many people.
- are proficient at communicating in both Danish and English with researchers and professionals in the children and youth field.
We emphasize that you can work independently with and take responsibility for your own tasks, as we practice a significant degree of self-management. You should thrive in project work where we develop and adapt the projects along the way, and you should be keen to learn new areas and develop new competencies. It is advantageous if you are systematic and analytical and good at collaborating with various partners.
Conditions of employment
The positions are, in principle, full-time. Start date either 1 November or as soon as possible thereafter. The positions are fixed-term for up to three years.
You will be employed at the Department of Economics, and the workplace is Universitetsbyen, Aarhus University.
