About the job

Do you want to help shape the construction of the future? We are looking for a building case handler who is motivated by making a difference at the meeting between legislation, construction and people. You will play a central role in the dialogue with citizens, companies and advisers, and you will contribute to ensuring efficient, professionally well-founded and consistent building case processes.

About the workplace

With us you will have the opportunity to work independently with both ordinary, complex and principled cases in a strong professional environment where quality, rule of law and good service are fundamental values.

You will become part of the Building Team in the Building, Nature & Environment Department. The team consists of 20 employees and a team leader and handles, among other things, building case processing, land-use cases, business service, BBR and address tasks, access to information and the digital building case archive.

Aabenraa Municipality is in development. Here you work with everything from industrial parks and PtX plants to new residential areas and exciting urban development projects. It provides a daily life with great variation, professional challenges and opportunities to make a visible difference.

About the job

There is an upscaling with two positions, so we can strengthen the efforts against illegal building conditions, and guide citizens and companies safely through the legalization process.

As a building case handler you will process cases under the Building Act, the Building Regulations and the Planning Act. You ensure a correct and uniform administration of the legislation and contribute to qualified decisions.

The position requires that you can navigate in complex issues, build constructive relationships and find solutions within the framework of the law. In return, you will get responsibility, influence and the opportunity to shape the development of the area.

Your tasks will include, among others, to

  • process building applications and prepare decisions, dispensation assessments and legal justifications
  • assess projects in relation to the Building Regulations including placement in fire and construction class, the Planning Act and local plans as well as other relevant legislation
  • conduct neighbour notices and party consultations and ensure the case is sufficiently illuminated before a decision is made
  • advise citizens, companies and advisers on rules and practices and hold dialogue meetings with applicants
  • contribute to efficient and smooth case processes as well as participate in the development of workflows and consistent authority practice in collaboration with colleagues across professional areas
  • prepare case summaries for political consideration.

We offer

With us you have the opportunity to work with exciting authority tasks in an environment characterized by collaboration, trust and development. We emphasize that you get good frames for both professional development and well-being. We offer among other things

  • a challenging and varied job with a lot of independence and responsibility
  • a strong professional community with skilled and engaged colleagues
  • thorough training and introduction to the municipality and building case processing
  • good opportunities for professional and personal development within construction, authority work and law
  • a positive working environment characterized by integrity, good humor and room for your own ideas
  • great flexibility with the possibility of remote work and influence on the planning of the work.

About you

We imagine that you

  • have a relevant education as an engineer, architect, building constructor, land surveyor or similar
  • have good knowledge of the Building Regulations – especially within fire and administrative law principles as well as relevant planning law
  • understand the interplay between technology, law and authority exercise
  • can make independent professional and legal assessments and convey them clearly and understandably
  • communicate confidently both verbally and in writing in Danish – and preferably English
  • work structured and have an eye for both detail and the whole
  • are solution-oriented and good at building relationships
  • thrive with dialogue and collaboration.

It is also an advantage if you have experience with handling complex or principled cases and enjoy navigating in legislation, practice and politically set frameworks and preferably concrete experience with building case processing. The most important is that you have an interest in building legislation, authority tasks and the professional assessments that lie behind good decisions.
