About the job
We are expanding the team because the workload is growing
At the Shared Day Hospital (FDH) we are proud that our employees stay with us. Therefore, we are not advertising vacant positions because someone is leaving. On the contrary.
We are facing a number of new and exciting tasks within ambulatory treatment, citizen-centered nursing and the future acute care service on Bornholm. This means that we need more skilled nurses to take on the task together with us.
We are therefore now looking for two new colleagues who would like to become part of a strong professional community and help develop the future healthcare system on Bornholm.
With us you don’t just get a job. You become part of a department where we know each other well, pull together, and prioritize both professionalism, job satisfaction, and collegial sense of community. We believe that the best results are created when people thrive, and therefore we actively work so that the FDH is a place where you look forward to coming to work.
Who are we?
The Shared Day Hospital (FDH) is a modern and broadly specialized ward at Bornholm Hospital with a wide variety of patient pathways.
We support both short outpatient pathways and longer treatment courses, where patients receive treatment over several days or weeks. At the same time, we function as an observation and short-stay ward where patients’ further treatment is assessed, planned and coordinated.
The majority of our patient pathways are medically based today, but our daily work covers a wide range of tasks, including:
- Outpatient treatments and controls
- Intravenous treatment
- Instrumental procedures
- Observation and short-stay pathways
- Cross-sector patient pathways
- And in the future citizen-centered health offers
Some patients stay with us for a few hours. Others we follow through longer treatment courses where they live at home and come in for daily treatments, sometimes several times a day. Therefore, workdays are rarely the same, and precisely this variation is part of what many of us cherish most about working at FDH.
We are a small team consisting of nurses and a single social and health care assistant. This creates close relationships, short decision paths and good opportunities for professional sparring in everyday life. At the same time there is room to work independently and take responsibility.
FDH is a small department, but we do not stand alone. We work closely with the Emergency Department and the rest of the hospital to create good and coherent patient pathways. Although FDH and the Emergency Department today are organized as separate wards with their own management, the collaboration remains strong and characterized by mutual helpfulness, professional respect and a shared ambition to find the best solutions for the patients.
That means you will become part of a department with its own identity and culture, while also belonging to a strong professional community across the hospital.
The health service is undergoing change, and on Bornholm we are already well underway
From January 1, 2027, municipal acute nursing care will transfer to the region, and at Bornholm Hospital the task will be anchored in FDH. This gives us a central role in the development of tomorrow’s citizen-centered acute services.
We already work on a smaller scale with treatments and health services in citizens’ own homes to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and create more coherent patient pathways. But because the area is new for the region, there are still many aspects that are not yet fully clarified. Quality standards, workflows and forms of collaboration are still under development, and we will during a period work while the framework around the task is taking shape.
Therefore we are looking for nurses who thrive on development and change. You must be able to accept that not all answers exist in advance, and that the path to the best solutions sometimes requires adjustments along the way. Sometimes we take two steps forward and one step back before we find the right model.
In return, you will have a very special opportunity to help shape the development of future acute nursing on Bornholm. We therefore hope that you are curious, engaged and willing to participate, even when the path is not fully mapped yet. For even though we do not know all the details today, we know that we must lift the task together, and that we achieve the most with professionalism, flexibility and a strong sense of community.
Mobillab – the hospital comes home to the citizen
A special function in FDH is our Mobillab.
Here, nurses drive out to citizens across Bornholm to perform blood sampling and ECG recordings in their own homes. The service is aimed at citizens who, due to illness or reduced mobility, have difficulty coming to the hospital.
The task provides a great deal of autonomy and an opportunity to meet citizens in their own surroundings, while strengthening the collaboration between hospital, municipality and general practice.
As a new colleague you will, in time, be trained in the function.
We are looking for you who
- Is a Danish-authorized nurse
- Thrives in a varied and changeable workday
- Wants both outpatient nursing, acute assessments and short observation pathways
- Can work independently and take responsibility
- Is curious about development and new ways of delivering health services
- Contributes positively to the community and the work environment
- Wants to collaborate across professional groups, sectors and organizations
Experience with acute nursing, medical patients or cross-sector patient pathways is an advantage but not a requirement.
For us it is equally important that you want to learn new things, develop yourself and be a good colleague.
A driving license is a prerequisite for the position.
Why choose FDH
With us you become part of a department where professionalism, community and development go hand in hand.
We offer
- A thorough and safe introduction
- Skilled colleagues who are happy to share knowledge and experiences
- A department with broad professional breadth and variation in tasks
- Opportunity to influence the development of future acute nursing on Bornholm
- Independence and responsibility in everyday life
- Opportunity for training in our citizen-centered functions
- Close collaboration with hospital, municipality and general practice
- An working environment characterized by trust, humor and helpfulness
We know that a good working life is about more than exciting tasks. Therefore we prioritize the sense of community and actively work so that everyone feels welcome, valued and an important part of the team.
A life on Bornholm?
Whether you already live on Bornholm or dream of moving here, you will have the opportunity to combine an exciting work life with proximity to nature, community and everyday life with a bit more air around you.
We hope you would like to become part of our team.
