About the job

We are expanding the team as tasks grow

At the Shared Day Hospital (FDH) we are proud that our employees stay with us. Therefore we are not advertising vacancies because someone is leaving. On the contrary.

We are facing a number of new and exciting tasks within outpatient treatment, citizen-centered nursing and the future rapid response service on Bornholm. This means that we need more skilled nurses to take on the challenge together with us.

We are therefore now looking for two new colleagues who want to become part of a strong professional community and help shape the future of healthcare on Bornholm.

With us you don’t just get a job. You become part of a department where we know each other well, work together, and prioritize professionalism, job satisfaction and collegial community. We believe that the best results are created when people thrive, and therefore we actively work for FDH to be a place where people look forward to going to work.

Who are we?

The Shared Day Hospital (FDH) is a modern and broadly specialized department at Bornholm Hospital with a wide variety of patient pathways.

We support both short outpatient pathways and longer treatments, where patients receive treatment over several days or weeks. At the same time, we function as an observation and short-stay unit, where patients’ further treatment is assessed, planned and coordinated.

The majority of our patient pathways today are medically based, but our daily work includes a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Outpatient treatments and controls
  • Intravenous treatment
  • Instrumental procedures
  • Observation and short stays
  • Cross-sector patient pathways
  • And in the future citizen-centered health services

Some patients are with us for a few hours. Others we follow through longer treatment pathways where they live at home and attend daily treatments, sometimes several times a day. Therefore, the workdays are rarely the same, and that variation is something many of us value most about working at FDH.

We are a smaller staff group consisting of nurses and a single social and health assistant. This creates close relationships, short decision paths and good opportunities for professional sparring in daily work. At the same time there is room to work independently and take responsibility.

FDH is a small department, but we do not stand alone. We collaborate closely with the Emergency Department and the rest of the hospital to create good and coherent patient pathways. Although FDH and the Emergency Department are today organized as independent departments with their own management, the collaboration remains strong and characterized by mutual help, professional respect and a shared ambition to find the best solutions for the patients.

This means that you become part of a department with its own identity and culture, while also being part of a strong professional community across the hospital.

The health care system is changing, and on Bornholm we are already well under way

From January 1, 2027, municipal acute nursing care will transfer to the region, and at Bornholm Hospital the task will be anchored in FDH. This gives us a central role in developing future citizen-centered acute care.

We already work on a smaller scale with treatments and health services in citizens’ own homes to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and create more coherent patient pathways. But because the area is new for the region, there are still many aspects that have not yet been fully clarified. Quality standards, work processes and collaboration forms are still under development, and we will during a period work at the same time as the framework around the task takes shape.

Therefore we are looking for nurses who thrive on development and change. You must be able to accept that not all answers exist in advance, and that the road to the best solutions sometimes requires adjustments along the way. Sometimes we take two steps forward and one back before we find the right model.

In return you will have a very special opportunity to help shape the development of future emergency nursing on Bornholm. We therefore hope you are curious, engaged and willing to be involved even when the path is not fully mapped yet. For even though we do not know all the details today, we know that we must lift the task together, and that we will go furthest with professionalism, flexibility and a strong sense of community.

Mobillab – the hospital comes home to the citizen

A special function in FDH is our Mobillab.

Here, nurses drive out to citizens all over Bornholm to perform blood sampling and ECG recording in their own homes. The service is targeted at citizens who, due to illness or reduced mobility, have difficulty coming to the hospital.

The task provides great independence and the opportunity to meet citizens in their own surroundings, while strengthening collaboration between hospital, municipality and primary care.

As a new colleague you will eventually be trained in the function.

We are looking for you who

  • Are a Danish authorized nurse
  • Thrive in a varied and changing workday
  • Want both outpatient nursing, acute assessments and short observation pathways
  • Can work independently and take responsibility
  • Are curious about development and new ways of delivering health services
  • Contribute positively to the community and the work environment
  • Want to collaborate across professional groups, sectors and organizations

Experience with acute nursing, medical patients or cross-sector patient pathways is an advantage, but not a requirement.

For us it is at least as important that you want to learn something new, develop yourself and be a good colleague.

A valid driving license is a prerequisite for the position.

Why choose FDH

With us you become part of a department where professionalism, community and development go hand in hand.

We offer

  • A thorough and safe introductory program
  • Competent colleagues who are happy to share knowledge and experiences
  • An department with wide professional breadth and variation in tasks
  • Opportunity to influence the development of future emergency nursing on Bornholm
  • Independence and responsibility in everyday life
  • Opportunity for training in our citizen-centered functions
  • Close collaboration with hospital, municipality and general practice
  • An work environment characterized by trust, humor and helpfulness

We know that a good working life is about more than exciting tasks. Therefore we prioritize the community highly and actively work so that everyone feels welcome, valued and an important part of the team.

A life on Bornholm?

Whether you already live on Bornholm or dream of moving here, you will have the opportunity here to combine an exciting working life with proximity to nature, community and a daily life with a little more air around you.

We hope you would like to become part of our team.
