About the job

Are you a visible leader with heart, an eye for everyday life, and the ability to create calm and direction?

As we did not find the right match for Rødovre School in the first round, the position is re-advertised

At Rødovre School we are seeking a new head of the upper school (grades 6–9) with a start date of December 1, 2026.

We are looking for a leader who thrives close to everyday life, and who is motivated to create good conditions for students' learning and wellbeing through hands-on staff leadership, clear direction and a steady hand in daily operations.

A school with strong communities and high ambitions

Rødovre School is a well-functioning school with around 750 curious children and young people, located in green and charming surroundings in Rødovre's old town. Our school has a good reputation and we strive for high academic achievement, strong well-being and safe communities for all our students.

We believe that the best results are created through strong professional communities. Therefore we work purposefully with psychological safety, high social capital and a culture where employees experience responsibility, mastery and job satisfaction.

As a leader you will be part of an engaged management team that works based on the motto

"Even better leadership – rather than more leadership."

We prioritise dialogue, trust, humour and close collaboration, where we help each other succeed.

Your most important task

You will become head of the school’s upper school (grades 6-9) and the nearest line manager for around 20 teachers.

Your main task will be to ensure a well-functioning everyday life in the upper school. You must be a visible and accessible leader who supports the staff in their daily work, creates coherence for the students and has an eye for both people and tasks.

You will have a central role in coordinating and following up on the many ongoing tasks that characterize the upper school, and you contribute to daily life functioning smoothly and professionally. At the same time you will be an active part of the school’s overall management and contribute to the school’s continued development.

Your tasks

You will, among other things, be responsible for

  • staff leadership and sparring with the upper school's staff
  • the daily operations and coordination of the upper school
  • point of contact for student matters and cross-disciplinary collaboration around students
  • planning and conduct of the public school tests
  • Management responsibility for the school's (and the municipality's) focus area “Technology and Innovation”
  • collaboration with students, parents and external partners
  • to support good learning environments and high quality teaching
  • to contribute to the school's joint development tasks and leadership collaboration.

The final division of tasks will be determined in dialogue with the candidate we hire.

We hope that you

... are a leader who creates followers through presence, trust and clarity.

No one can know everything, but we imagine that you

  • are visible and accessible in daily life
  • thrive at creating structure, overview and forward momentum
  • can prioritize and maintain calm in a day with many different tasks
  • communicate clearly and follow up on agreements and decisions
  • are strong in relationships and collaboration with staff, students and parents
  • have a resource-oriented view of children and people
  • are motivated to support staff's work and create good conditions for the core task
  • have experience with leadership – preferably from the school sector – and possibly a leadership qualification.

With us you get

  • a well-run school with high ambitions for all students
  • dedicated and capable staff
  • a leadership team with strong unity, high professionalism and room for sparring
  • a daily life with great influence on the school’s operations and ongoing development
  • close collaboration with the other schools in Rødovre Municipality, including a well-established upper-school network
  • participation in the municipal school leadership network group, "From words to action", concerning sustainable school leadership.
  • an attractive health arrangement with among other things physiotherapy, massage and health checks.

If you can see yourself in that role, we look forward to receiving your application.
