About the job
Would you like to contribute to strengthening Denmark's national crisis management and be part of a team in a central 24/7 function with decisive significance for the country’s overall preparedness?
The Danish Agency for Community Safety (SAMSIK) is seeking shift managers who will help build, operate and develop a new 24/7 function within the framework of a national situation center.
Welcome
In connection with the establishment of a around-the-clock function in SAMSIK, a new operational capacity is being built to support Denmark’s national crisis management outside normal working hours. The around-the-clock function serves as the agency’s operational contact point and is also part of the work with the secretariat of the National Operational Cell (NOST). To be able to operate the function around the clock, we are looking for shift managers who can join a shift cycle organized as either two- or three-shift rotations.
The function is established in parallel as part of the overall establishment of a national situation center and will play a central role in its development. The Situation Center will be a shared physical and organizational environment where staff from the NOST secretariat and Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) work side by side. In connection with your shifts you will therefore be responsible for leading the national situation center and the staff involved here.
As a shift manager you will, in particular during evening and night hours, have a coordinating responsibility in relation to both NOST and CSIRT and act as a common priority and escalation point outside normal working hours.
Your daily life with us
As a shift manager you will play a key role in the daily operation of the around-the-clock function. When you are on duty, you hold the overall responsibility for staffing, prioritization and coordination of tasks, as well as for leading the entire situation center.
In the National Situation Center you also serve as shift manager for CSIRT. You support the CSIRT duty in relation to assessing when cyber incidents should be escalated further. The cyber specialist assessment and technical handling are carried out by CSIRT, while the shift manager’s role is to assist in assessing consequences, need for communication, ministerial briefing and potential escalation to national Cyber crisis management or activation of NOST.
You must ensure coherence and shared situational understanding across NOST and CSIRT and act as the link between operational operations, the agency’s on-call manager and the agency’s leadership.
In addition to the above, your core tasks will include
- Ongoing national and international situation monitoring.
- Mastering and quality assurance of situation pictures and decision support for management and the on-call manager.
- Identification of patterns, trends and deviations from the normal picture.
- Support for the agency’s crisis management organization, including preparation for activation of the crisis staff.
- Handling of NOST’s 24/7 secretariat function (phone, email and forwarding).
- Function as a single point of contact for selected SAMSIK offices outside normal working hours.
- Ongoing documentation and recording of incidents, assessments and decisions.
- Contribution to the development and professionalization of the around-the-clock function and the upcoming situation center.
About you
We are looking for a profile with experience from emergency management, crisis management or another operational function, who is used to working in complex and cross-cutting environments. Your educational background is less relevant, but we assume you may have a background from a public authority, the Armed Forces, the Police, the Danish Emergency Management Agency or a civilian organization with a similar around-the-clock function.
In addition, we expect that you
- Can maintain an overview and make decisions in complex and time-pressured situations.
- Can convey complex issues clearly and precisely – in writing and verbally.
- Thrive with shift work and responsibility in a 24/7 function.
- Work in a structured and systematic way with documentation.
- Can prioritize a large workload and assess what is critical and time-sensitive.
- Have the ability to lead and coordinate an operations- and situation center with diverse professional backgrounds.
It is an advantage if you have experience from situation centers, control rooms, crisis management, analysis, intelligence, cyber security or technical operations, but it is not a requirement.
What we offer you
We offer you a job in an organization in development with dedicated colleagues who each day perform an important societal task. We have a good working environment and a welcoming culture where well-being and performance go hand in hand. We are connected across disciplines and cultures and are in the process of building a new strong workplace. What unites us is our passion for our work and our readiness to help you get started well in your new job.
Salary and employment terms
The position is full-time. We expect to hire on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
You will be employed under the applicable collective agreement depending on experience and qualifications. Salary and employment terms are determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
The employment area is the Ministry of Community Safety and Emergency Preparedness. The workplace is currently Holsteinsgade 63, 2100 Copenhagen Ø.
You will be part of an on-call duty arrangement, where you work one week at a time. An on-call shift is expected every 6-8 weeks.
It is a condition of employment that you can obtain security clearance to the classification level SECRET and maintain this throughout your employment.
