Heating, Energy and Climate Consultant Wanted - West

The position as heating-, energy- and climate consultant in Fyens, Aalborg, Viborg, Aarhus, Ribe and Haderslev dioceses is hereby announced with commencement on 1 January 2027. The position is fixed-term for 4 years and expires on 31 December 2030.

The position is a secondary occupation.

Profile

The heating-, energy- and climate consultant must have a degree as a civil engineer or similar with specialization in heating, energy, and climate conditions. The person employed in the position must not have financial interests in companies that manufacture, trade, repair or service heating or climate systems or components for such systems.

The heating-, energy- and climate consultant is personally appointed and may be attached to an engineering or architectural firm with a specialization in heating, energy and climate.

Tasks

The consultant’s area of expertise covers cases concerning the execution of new heating, ventilation, or humidification systems, or the renovation of existing systems in churches, including conducting an expert thermotechnical and economic assessment regarding the design and use of church heating systems. In addition, cases regarding energy consumption as well as locating and utilizing energy-saving opportunities and matters concerning climate conditions, including climate problems for the churches’ historic inventories, etc.

As a heating-, energy- and climate consultant you shall, upon request, provide statements in cases related to the above.

You will also be required to provide advice and guidance to parish councils and cemetery boards upon request.

The heating-, energy- and climate consultant also participates in the diocese’s consultant rounds, where we, among other things, visit churches in the diocese where a parish council has wishes or plans for a project.

During the consultant rounds the project is discussed with the parish council, and the heating-, energy- and climate consultant applies their expertise together with the diocese’s other consultants. There are about 4 consultant rounds per year in each diocese.

As a heating-, energy- and climate consultant you act as an advisor to the church authorities according to the rules in:

Please note that the Ministry of Health and Church Affairs expects to issue revised administrative regulations for consultation during September 2026. There is a proposal to change the consultants’ areas of expertise, and the changes will therefore be relevant to upcoming appointments. The ministry expects to enact the administrative regulations in October–November 2026.

It is important to note that as a heating-, energy- and climate consultant you must not undertake design tasks for parish councils within the diocese you are employed in, unless the diocese exceptionally approves it.

Remuneration

The remuneration as of 1 January 2026

• Consultancy cases pursuant to § 8 in Circular No. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instructions for the Church of Denmark’s consultants: 1,236 DKK per hour.
• Statements cases under § 7, para. 1, in Circular No. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instructions for the Church of Denmark’s consultants: 1,854 DKK per statement.

The remuneration is augmented by holiday pay at 12.5%, while value-added tax (VAT) should not be added.

The rates are adjusted annually on 1 January.
