Veddelev Børnehus is seeking pedagogical assistants for both the kindergarten and the nursery

Are you ambitious on behalf of the children and can you see yourself immersed in play on the floor as well as demonstrating natural care and interest for each individual child, then you are the one we are looking for.

In Veddelev Childcare House - and in Roskilde Municipality - we base our approach on strong communities and a resource-oriented view of children and people, based on the premise that ”a person does well if they can.” We meet this approach in daily pedagogical work with children, parents and colleagues. We start from the child’s perspective with a focus on present adults who through relationships and play create a safe and caring everyday life for the children.

Veddelev Childcare House is an integrated day care institution with children from 0-6 years. We have one toddler group with children from 0-3 years, as well as two age-integrated preschool groups with children from 3-6 years.

We are looking for three pedagogical assistants for permanent positions of 35-37 hours with a start between 1 November 2026 and 1 January 2027. One position will be in the toddler unit, the second in the preschool, and the third position will have a floating function, where you do not have a fixed room.

At Veddelev Childcare House, there is cross-unit and cross-department collaboration, and it is expected that you can work and help in both the toddler and the preschool if it is considered meaningful from a child perspective and based on the house’s professional resources regardless of which position you are hired for.

The creative and imaginative expression is central to our approach and activities in the childcare house. Creativity at Veddelev Childcare House is not equal to a product or a sticking activity at the table. Creativity at Veddelev Childcare House can also be dance, movement, theater, music or following the children’s expressions and interests. We usually work thematically based on what engages the children in daily life.

We have a large playground with space for hide-and-seek, football, immersive and undisturbed play, and room to unleash imagination. We often take walks down to the fjord, visit the goats, and follow the course of nature throughout the year. This applies to both the toddler unit and the preschool.

Veddelev Childcare House contains a very special atmosphere, warmth and spirit, as well as a stable and welcoming staff group. You will collaborate with a staff group that is down-to-earth, experienced and professionally grounded in their pedagogical practice. We are not afraid to talk about what is difficult or may be challenging in daily life, and we reflect on and continuously adjust our pedagogical practice based on professional dialogues in daily work.

Caring, presence, safety and familiar routines are important guiding points for the pedagogical work at Veddelev Childcare House. Therefore, it is important that you display natural care, feel comfortable being on the floor and at eye level with the children, while also being able to create a structured pedagogical framework together with the other staff in the classroom. We also expect that you can take initiative, be proactive on your own, and contribute with your input and ideas to the pedagogical practice.
