About the job
On 1 April 2027 we open the Forensic Psychiatry Inpatient Ward R2 – a completely new acute forensic psychiatric inpatient ward.
Therefore we are seeking social and health care assistants who not only want a new job, but who also want to help create a new workplace.
As one of the first employees at R2 you will have the opportunity to influence the ward's culture, workflows and professional practice. Together we shall build a highly specialized treatment environment where high professionalism, strong professional relationships, person-centered care and treatment, interdisciplinary collaboration and safety go hand in hand.
You do not need experience from forensic psychiatry. The most important is that you are professionally curious, can build professional relationships and want to work with some of psychiatry's most complex patient pathways.
A new acute forensic psychiatry ward
R2 will be one of the two acute assessment and treatment wards in the Forensic Psychiatry Department and will be located in Building L in Skejby on the same floor as the existing acute inpatient ward R1.
The ward will among other things be responsible for
- Assessment and treatment of detainees admitted under custody surrogate status
- Patients in custody who are not covered by mail and visit control
- Treatment and stabilization of particularly challenging and complex patients in collaboration with general psychiatry
At R2 you will be part of a highly specialized environment where social and health care assistants play a central role in the daily care, observation, treatment and stabilization of the patients.
You will help create R2
When opening a new Inpatient Ward, not everything is given in advance.
We see this as an opportunity.
As an employee at R2 you will have a real opportunity to contribute to the development of the ward's professional culture, workflows and forms of collaboration.
We aim to create a workplace characterized by high professionalism, clarity, curiosity, reflection and a strong interdisciplinary community.
We are therefore not looking for one specific profile.
Perhaps you have many years of experience from psychiatry or forensic psychiatry. Perhaps you come from somatic care, the elderly care or a social-psychiatric offering. Or perhaps you are newly educated and looking for your first job.
The crucial thing is that you want to develop professionally and actively contribute to the establishment of the new R2.
Your role as a social and health care assistant
As a social and health care assistant at R2 you will among other things
- Be the contact person for 2-3 patients and join a fixed multidisciplinary team around the individual patient
- Plan, execute and evaluate person-centered care and treatment based on Fundamentals of Care and the patient's individual needs
- Be visible and active in the treatment environment and use relationships, activities and social interaction as an integrated part of the treatment
- Contribute with systematic clinical observations as part of the patients' assessment, treatment and mental observation
- Administer medicines within your own competence area and observe effects and side effects
- Prepare documentation and contribute to treatment plans
- Participate in the department's safety readiness and assist with alarm runs to the other forensic psychiatry wards
- Actively contribute to developing R2's professional practice, culture and cross-disciplinary collaboration
Your professionalism as a social and health care assistant will be an important part of the overall treatment.
This applies both in the structured observations and in the many daily meetings with the patients, where the relationship, continuity and knowledge of the individual patient can be decisive for both treatment and safety.
You do not need to know forensic psychiatry beforehand
Forensic psychiatry is a specialized area. Therefore we prioritize your introduction highly and you will receive a thorough induction program
If you start before 1 March 2027, you will start in one of the Forensic Psychiatry Department's existing inpatient wards. Here you will have the opportunity to learn the specialty, the patient group, the treatment, safety and everyday life in the specialty.
From 1 March 2027 the introduction will be targeted at the work in an acute forensic psychiatric inpatient ward, before we together open the doors to R2 on 1 April 2027. [TM1]
Who are you?
We are looking for you who
- Are educated as a social and health care assistant
- Are responsible, professionally curious and self-reflective
- Can work independently and at the same time thrive in a close multidisciplinary collaboration
- Can build professional relationships while setting clear boundaries
- Communicate clearly and constructively
- Have an interest in safety-oriented work
- Are stable and flexible
- Desire ongoing professional development
- Are willing to actively contribute to the development of a completely new acute Inpatient Ward
- Contribute to a positive educational environment and act as a daily supervisor for example social and health care assistant students
We place emphasis on you being able to stand firmly in your own professional competence while being curious about other professional groups' perspectives.
Do you have special competences?
When we establish a completely new ward, we also need to build a number of key professional functions.
If you already have experience as, for example, a training supervisor – or have special competences in areas such as psychiatry, de-escalation, medicine, quality and development, work environment or other relevant fields – we would very much like to hear about it in your application.
However, this is not a requirement to apply for the position.
We are interested in different professional profiles and in what you can contribute to the upcoming R2.
If you would like to take on a key function in the future, we would also like to hear about that.
What do we offer?
With us you get, among other things
- A thorough induction program
- Competence development in forensic psychiatry, de-escalation and Fundamentals of Care
- A highly specialized professional environment
- Supervision and reflection forums
- A strong interdisciplinary collaboration
- Good opportunities for professional development
- 3-4 annual competency days
- Opportunity to influence your own shift schedule with regard to operations
We work purposefully with safety and see a high level of safety as a prerequisite for professionalism and treatment to unfold in a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Practical about the position
The position is initially 37 hours per week or as agreed.
The position involves mixed shifts, aiming for 2-shift coverage, and you have the opportunity to influence your own shift schedule with regard to operations.
Employment no later than 1 March, but there is a possibility to start as soon as possible.
If you take up the position before 1 March 2027 you will join one of the Forensic Psychiatry Department's existing wards until 1 March 2027, when the targeted introduction to work in the acute forensic psychiatric inpatient ward begins. Ward R2 opens 1 April 2027.
Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.
If you have questions about the position, you are very welcome to contact
