We are looking for social- and health care helper apprentices with start in January 2027 , and we are looking for you who want to learn, develop yourself and help create security and quality of life for other people.

You don’t need to know it all from the start. That is exactly why you should be an apprentice.

A meaningful education

The social- and health care helper education is a vocational education that alternates between school and on-the-job training. This means that you both gain new knowledge at school and have the opportunity to try it out in practice.

And yes, you get paid during the entire education – and a "good" wage throughout the entire program, also during the initial phase.

Classroom instruction takes place at SOSU H in the Capital Region.

In your on-the-job training periods you will gain experience from nursing homes and home care. Here you get close to the citizens and become an important part of their everyday life.

What does a social- and health care helper actually do?

As a social- and health care helper, your work involves much more than practical help and care.

It is primarily about people.

You help and support the citizen with, among other things, personal care, care and practical tasks. But an important part of your work is also to see the individual person, listen and help create a daily life with security, quality of life and as much independence as possible.

You learn to support and motivate the citizen to manage as much as possible on their own and to preserve the skills that are already there.

As a social- and health care helper you can work in nursing homes, in home care and at day and activity centers - you can actually become the thread that ties another person’s daily life together, and that is quite a meaningful job.

The main program for a social- and health care helper lasts, in principle, 1 year and 2 months.

Admission requirements

To start the main program for the social- and health care helper you must have passed Foundation Course 2 aimed at the social- and health care helper education .

The length of the education can vary depending, among other things, on your age, previous education and work experience. You can read more about the education, admission requirements, crediting and duration on SOSU H's website.

The education is arranged with 37 hours per week.

In your on-the-job training periods you will have both day and weekend shifts. It is a natural part of work in the care and welfare field where care and support must be delivered seven days a week.

The working time is 37 hours per week, and pay and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement between KL and the negotiating body.

The working hours are 37 hours and the salary is 14,250 DKK per month.

If you are over 25 years old, you have the option to apply for adult apprentice pay, which is about 26,294 DKK per month.
