Then maybe you are the one we are seeking, for one of our positions as Children and Youth Counselor in the Family Center, Varde Municipality.

The Family Center is organized under Children and Family and we solve diverse tasks to support the vulnerable children, youths and their families. Our tasks are allocated from our authorities department and the efforts we initiate are based on the set purpose of the intervention.

We work with children, youths and their families who are challenged in multiple areas of life, therefore our core task is to create sustained positive changes in the family in order to give children and youths security, development and well-being through early preventive interventions. We work from a resource-oriented approach, as our view of children is that all children and youths do as well as they can and there is focus on their voice, rights and participation in their own lives. We meet children, youths and their families with a respectful and inclusive practice, where they feel heard and met in their needs.

Our tasks can be diverse, but our focus is on developing parenting skills through social-pedagogical and therapeutic work in the family’s home. The intervention usually takes its starting point in the family’s immediate environment and with involvement of their network. The individual intervention can vary from advisory and guidance processes to more intensive treatment programs. In complex cases we often work together with several employees and professional groups in close collaboration with other departments e.g. health nurse, psychiatry, Job Center, etc.

In daily work there is a close partnership with the social worker from the authority department that is attached to the family. Part of our work is also written documentation in the form of, e.g., care plans, and participation in meetings.

As our new colleague you shall

• Have a relevant social-work education and possibly therapeutic continuing education
• Be able to work in a structured way, be self-directed and deliver written work
• Have the resource-oriented approach and be good at building relationships
• Have a focus on inclusion and understanding the importance of participation in one's own life
• Be able to be flexible, creative in your task solving and be clear in your communication
• Have a driving license

Employment terms

The position is 37 hours, or as agreed. The working hours are primarily after day care and school, which may involve part-time work and weekend work.

Expected start on 01 Dec 2026

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the collective agreement between KL and the negotiating organization.

Employment requires a police check for working with children.
