About the job

Are you passionate about creating the optimal framework for the night? Do you have a sharp eye for both acute medical treatment and the importance of good sleep hygiene? Then you now have a unique opportunity to become part of our team.

At the Acute Geriatric Department we place great value on our patients getting the rest they need to sleep. We know that good sleep hygiene and safety are fundamental to the elderly patient's recovery. As our new night shift, your primary task is to create an environment where the calm settles in, while you provide nursing of high professional quality.

Your daily life and professional profile

You will gain broad and deep knowledge about geriatric and internal medical patients in a department with capacity for 22 patients. Your tasks will include:

  • Active sleep hygiene and relief: You work purposefully to remove obstacles to a good night's sleep. This means you have a sharp focus on pain management and other factors that can disturb sleep, while you minimize noise and light in rooms and corridors.
  • Complex nursing: You handle acute medical issues such as infections, sepsis and respiratory challenges in the elderly frail patient.
  • Safety and holistic care: You meet the patient with presence and create safe surroundings in physical, mental or social challenges, so the night feels secure for the individual.

Who are we?

We are a staff group consisting of both new and experienced nurses as well as social and health care assistants, all passionate about geriatrics. We place high value on cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure a good patient journey – also beyond hospitalization.

We cannot promise that some nights are never busy. But we can promise you that we stand together and help each other, so you are never alone in the things you do.

We offer a workplace that takes care of you

  • Focus on your health: As a night shift with us you are offered a regular health check to ensure your well-being and balance in your working life.
  • Restitution during the shift: We prioritize your well-being, and therefore there is the possibility for a power nap when the tasks and the shift allow it.
  • Professional development: A broad knowledge within the medical specialty with ample opportunity to further your skills.
  • Leadership and conditions: A close leadership and a position of 20 - 28 hours with weekend shifts every 3-4 weekends .

We expect that you

  • Are a trained nurse with a desire to create optimal pathways for the elderly patient.
  • Are a colleague you can have full trust in , and who takes responsibility for the team and the patients during the quiet hours.
  • Value sleep hygiene highly and master the art of creating calm and security.
  • Contributes to our working environment with a positive approach and good collaboration skills, even when tasks require a cool head.
