About the job
As a social- and health care assistant in the autism field, you use your health-professional expertise in a pedagogical everyday life. You come close to the residents, follow their development over time and use your professional skills to create a safer and more independent everyday life.
We are seeking social- and health care assistants for several of our long-term residential facilities in the autism area. When you apply, you are in the running for multiple positions. Together we will find the workplace that best fits your wishes, your experience, and the everyday life you want.
You can read about the individual residential facilities at socialjob.kk.dk and see where there are currently vacancies .
Close to the residents and everyday life
In the autism area you work with adults who need skilled and present professionals around them. The majority of residents have a diagnosis on the autism spectrum, while others may have, for example, a developmental delay or disabilities.
There are differences between the residential facilities, but the common factor for all residents is that they need the structure and predictability of autism pedagogy in order to thrive as well as possible. You will play an important role in creating safe environments and a daily life that makes sense for the individual.
' You will become part of an area with many possibilities and great diversity. There may be a lot of personal care at one place, while there is a resident who needs support to take a driving test at another place ', says Christian Bach Birkshøj, head of the autism area.

Use your health-professional background in a pedagogical practice
You will become part of a multidisciplinary work community where your health-professional background works together with the pedagogical professional knowledge. Here you can help develop and implement health-related initiatives, spar with colleagues about health-related issues and help translate your knowledge into a daily life that makes sense for the individual.
Your tasks may include, among others,
- supporting residents in their development, well-being and independence
- handling and following up on health-related efforts for the individual resident
- supporting residents in personal care and everyday activities in a respectful and caring way
- documenting and following up on the pedagogical and health-related efforts
- collaborating with relatives and multidisciplinary partners.
Your upcoming colleague, Janus, explains: ' We are the resident's secure bastion. We cover the whole person because we are here all the time. In this way, we help make a huge difference for some vulnerable residents .

We are looking for you who
- are educated as a social- and health care assistant
- want to use your health-professional background in a pedagogical context
- thrive working closely and relationally with people over longer periods
- work in a structured way and can create calm and overview
- can collaborate and actively contribute to the multidisciplinary work community.
You do not need to have experience with the autism area. The most important is that you want to learn, are curious about the residents’ perspectives and can see the value in combining health-professional expertise and pedagogy.
A strong professional community
We have a high degree of specialization within autism pedagogy and a common professional foundation on which you can build. We spar about professional questions and learn from each other, and at all residential facilities we have health- and social-professional sparring partners.
We work, among other things, with autism pedagogy, Low Arousal 2 and recovery-oriented rehabilitation to create structure, predictability and safe environments around the residents.
You will be well prepared
All new employees receive a thorough onboarding with, for example, a mentor and introductory shifts, where you get to know residents and routines together with experienced colleagues. In addition, you will attend a five-day training in autism pedagogy, where you will be introduced to the pedagogical methods we use.
