Do you want to help give a lively and determined 17-year-old the opportunity to enjoy youth life with shopping, concerts and great experiences? We are looking for three permanent disability helpers who want to become part of her daily life.

About the role

The young woman is 17 years old and lives in Trørød with her mother, younger brother and the family's three cats. She is full of life, creative and determined and knows what she wants. She attends a youth education program and wishes to have an active youth life with everything it entails – from shopping and outings with friends to creative activities and concerts.

She has muscular dystrophy (SMA type 2) and uses an electric wheelchair. She needs help with practical and personal tasks in daily life, but it is important for her to have space to be herself and make her own choices.

As a disability helper, your task is to support her in living the youth life she desires. Some days you will accompany her on trips, to concerts or other activities, while other days take place at the family home. You also help with personal care, including bathing and toilet visits, as well as practical tasks such as tidying up and cleaning her areas.

In daily life she uses various aids, including a lift, electric wheelchair and handicap car. There may also be a need for accompaniment in connection with family visits, weekend trips and holidays.

You will become part of a family where humor, openness and good mood fill the air. At the same time it is important that you understand the balance between being a natural part of the home and giving the young woman and the family space for their privacy.

About you

You do not need to have a specific education to become a disability helper. The most important is that you have empathy, good situational awareness and a desire to participate in the young woman's daily life on her terms.

You understand when to be active and take initiative, and when to step back so she has space to be herself. You can be present and engaged without taking up too much space, and you respect her wishes and independence.

You are stable, flexible and responsible and thrive with a daily life where tasks can vary. You want to both join in on experiences and help with practical and personal tasks at home.

It is a requirement that you have a driver's license, as her handicap car is used in connection with activities and trips outside the home. You must also be able to stay in a home with three cats.

Working hours

We are looking for three permanent employees for a helper team with a total of 160 hours per month. The hours are distributed among the employees.

Shifts fall within the following time frames

• Tuesday 14:00–20:00
• Wednesday 14:00–20:00
• Thursday 14:00–20:00
• Friday 14:00–22:00
• Saturday 14:00–22:00
• Every other Sunday 14:00–20:00

Outside the office's opening hours there is always a staffed duty phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Agreement between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and work injury insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
