About the job

Do you want to help lead a cultural school where art, learning and community go hand in hand? And are you keen to translate artistic-pedagogical ambitions into everyday life where children and young people have the opportunity to develop themselves and experience that they belong?

The cultural schools in Høje-Taastrup are seeking a deputy head who can combine personnel management and reliable coordination with the desire to develop our offerings and collaborations. You will have a central role in a municipality with high ambitions in the cultural sector and political support for the work.

A cultural school with strong collaborations and room for development

The Cultural Schools include the Music, Visual Arts and Drama School, where we offer teaching and artistic communities for children and young people. We want our communities to leave a positive mark on children and young people throughout life.

We collaborate closely with the municipality's primary schools and day care. In Taastrupgård we develop a special art-pedagogical practice for children with more than 40 different mother tongues. Here we work on how art and culture can strengthen children's participation, language, well-being and communities across different cultural backgrounds.

We are developing the Children and Culture House as a cultural lighthouse for children and young people in Høje-Taastrup. We also share our art-pedagogical experience, theory and research with the outside world.

You will become part of a culturally ambitious municipality which has, among other things, entered into agreements with the Danish Entertainment Orchestra and the Danish Football Association to create more activities and strengthen children's well-being. The Cultural Schools work closely with the orchestra.

Your role as deputy head

You will become a close partner for the cultural school leader and the coordinators in the Visual Arts and Drama School. You will share in personnel management. At the same time you must create coherence between daily operations, pedagogical development and our many collaborations.

Your most important tasks will be to

  • Carry out personnel management together with the cultural school leader and follow up on tasks, working hours, sick leave, substitute coverage, holidays and time off.
  • Coordinate the cooperation with the municipality's primary schools and maintain close dialogue with the principals.
  • Coordinate projects with internal and external partners, including initiatives for our children with multicultural backgrounds.
  • Plan the season and coordinate teachers' timetables.
  • Be the convenor for the Pedagogical Committee and contribute to further developing our art-pedagogical practice together with the leader and colleagues.

You also actively participate in everyday work and take on tasks that arise along the way. It requires overview, flexibility and a willingness to find solutions together with others.

You set direction and generate ideas to make it succeed

We are looking for a deputy head who wants to lead and lead by example, and who at the same time listens and makes room for different professionalities and perspectives. You can translate ideas into concrete activities and ensure that agreements are followed through.

It is an advantage if you

  • Have a relevant education and a solid artistic and cultural background.
  • Have experience with people management as well as music and drama pedagogical practice.
  • Communicate clearly and welcomingly both verbally and in writing.
  • Thrive with planning and coordination and keep an overview in a varied everyday life.
  • Enjoy collaborating across institutions and disciplines.
  • Meet colleagues and partners with curiosity and respect.

With us you will have the opportunity to influence the development of the Cultural Schools and be close to what the work is about: giving children and young people access to art, culture and communities.
