Who we are
The Biodiversity Council is an independent, research-based expert body tasked with advising the government and the Parliament on initiatives that can reverse biodiversity loss and promote progress, as well as on how Denmark can most effectively meet its international obligations.
The Biodiversity Council consists of a chair and eight ordinary members who represent biodiversity on land, in freshwater and in the sea, as well as the legal, societal and environmental economic, and behavioral aspects that are important for preserving biodiversity.
The Biodiversity Council has been appointed for a one-year term in 2027. The position is therefore fixed-term, initially until the end of December 2027, but with the possibility of extension if additional funds are allocated to the Biodiversity Council.
