At Orø School we are looking for a teaching colleague who thrives in a small, intimate environment, and who would like to leave their mark on our students' everyday life. We are looking for you who find energy in teaching in the early years, and who has a particular interest in becoming part of island life.

With us you will be part of a everyday life where there is little time from idea to action, and where we place high value on both academic immersion and human presence.

The position is part-time at 30-32 hours. The final number of hours we will determine jointly, and there may also be a possibility of a schedule with one weekly day off.

Your upcoming everyday life at Orø School

As a teacher with us you will have the opportunity to cover a broad range, as we are a small school. As a starting point you will teach Danish as well as other subjects in the early years, where we have both regular year classes and mixed-age classes. You will not stand alone, as we allocate resources to our mixed-age classes. In addition you will take on the homeroom teacher role in a class.

We dream that in addition to Danish you can also contribute with teaching in craft and design, music and physical education. If you have experience with drama, we would love to hear about it. Even if you cannot check all subjects in your subject package, apply anyway, because that is what we can do at Orø: Even though we are a small school and kindergarten, we always find solutions.

As a teacher at Orø School you will have the pleasure of our wonderful, sweet and curious students in a small environment, where there is room for both spontaneity and established frameworks. Here your main task will be to create a school day where the children gain academic knowledge, but also are formed as people. We are looking for you who work in a structured way and create safe boundaries for the children, but who also possess a creative vein and can navigate safely in the spontaneous moments that naturally arise on an island school.

An institution in a small local community characterized by a very special togetherness

Orø Kindergarten and School is a unified institution, which means we have close pedagogical cooperation between the kindergarten, after-school care (SFO) and the school, where it can be organized across the entire age range from 0-12 years. You must be ready to join this community so that your core competencies can be used across the entire Orø Kindergarten, SFO and school for the benefit of the children.

At Orø School we have 65 students in grades 0-6. This school year, 0th grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade have instruction separately (selected hours are nevertheless combined), while 1st-2nd grade and 5th-6th grade are taught together. This distribution can change over time in step with our students. The teachers work closely across classes and year groups, just as educators are part of the school day.

In the middle of Isefjord lies Orø, a small heart-shaped island. In the heart of Orø beats the island's heart: a growing kindergarten, school and SFO where the island's children and a good portion of its adults have their daily goings-on.

A place where everyone knows each other, and where we also learn to rely on one another across age groups.

There is always a local helping hand, never far from nature, and a spirit that says: "We just do it".

Orø School and Kindergarten is a unified institution, and we therefore have a very special opportunity to create a red thread from when children start in the nursery up to they leave after 6th grade.

We also have a very active parent group that supports the kindergarten, SFO and the school in many ways in daily life, for example with our traditional paint-and-flea market, work days, etc.

Orø has good transport options. There is a ferry every 20 minutes from Hornsherred, and every hour from Holbæk.
