About the job
Do you want to help build a new department? We are seeking an engaged and skilled special education teacher for 30-37 hours per week who enjoys developing and creating structures and frameworks for our new students.
The student group currently consists of 2 students in 1st and 3rd grade, but is expected to grow with more students. The students have autism and significant language challenges.
You will help to build the team, and initially you will be there with a teacher, and have an assistant attached. If you know a teacher you work very well with, who also has a passion for creating a good school environment and well-being for children, you are welcome to apply as a team for the positions. There are always a minimum of two adults present in all lessons.
It is important that you understand and find it meaningful to work with children who are academically, emotionally, and socially challenged. You meet the children with relational competence, with presence, curiosity, and openness, and can balance structure and predictability with flexibility and adaptations. You are capable of planning and implementing a practice-oriented, motivating, and often alternative instruction aimed at the individual needs. You are skilled in autism education and with children with language difficulties.
And you have a positive and constructive approach to building a new department. There may be many bumps along the way and things that don’t work, but there is high spirits and high ceilings, and we solve the task together. Your ideas are crucial, the task is professionally developmental, and our mindset is “we’ll figure it out together.”
We need you to thrive in a small, independent environment – initially with only two children and a small team – in an independent building at Herfølge School, where we currently have rooms. Holmehus Special School is a couple of kilometers away. You will participate in staff meetings and events with the rest of the staff at Holmehus Special School.
The team has fixed weekly meetings and receives ongoing supervision, so there are good frameworks for professional sparring, development, and well-being.
We work closely with PPR (Pedagogical Psychological Counseling) and with the students in the communicative, physical, and psychological space. We have a motor room and work sensomotorically.
Our unwavering belief is that “children do the best they can” – and that is the driving force in our work every day.
We use low arousal and mentalization as part of daily interaction with the students.
Holmehus is a full-day school and is open during most holidays for children who need it. As a teacher at Holmehus, you will work during school holidays when you are not on holiday yourself. A fixed holiday plan with holiday groups is in place, so you will know your holidays well in advance.
We are very focused on, together, creating a fantastic workplace, which among other things requires influence, engagement, and a good working environment.
Salary and terms of employment in accordance with the agreement between KL and BUPL.
If you would like to know more about the position and possibly arrange a visit to the school, you can contact the principal Corinna Hansen at tel. 23130194 (except in week 42).
The position is 30-37 hours by agreement. Working hours will be between 6:00 and 17:00.
Application deadline 22 October 2026 at 23:59.
Starting by 1 December 2026 at the latest.
We hold interviews on an ongoing basis.
When employed in the position, a child protection and criminal record check will be obtained.
We prefer that you send your application online. Click on “Search for the position” and attach your application and your CV.
