About the job

Do you want to be part of the start of an exciting development in specialized rehabilitation?

You will be part of a specialized and interdisciplinary team where professionalism, structure and relationships go hand in hand.

You will primarily be attached to our children and youth area, where you will participate in specialized rehabilitation programs for children and young people. At the same time you will be part of a unit with a broad rehabilitation professional perspective that includes children, young people and adults.

A workplace in exciting development

We are increasing the number of occupational therapists for permanent full-time positions in our specialized neurorehabilitation at Neurorehabilitation Central. We are in the midst of a meaningful development, where the specialized area, in connection with the Health Reform, will be transferred from municipalities to the regions as of January 1, 2027.

From this date, the temporary rehabilitation beds will be renamed Regionshospital Hammel Neurocenter, Day and Night Rehabilitation, Hammel, and will thus become part of Western Denmark’s highly specialized hospital within neurorehabilitation. There will be a focus on developing services in day/night rehabilitation that can take place in the citizen's own home.

That means you will be part of an organization in change with a real opportunity to influence your professional field, contribute to the development of specialized neurorehabilitation, and be part of an important journey for citizens, employees and partners.

Who are we?

We work with citizens after discharge from hospital, where the length of the rehabilitation program depends on each citizen's development potential. Typically a program lasts about three months.

In neurorehabilitation we work purposefully to ensure that the individual citizen becomes an actively participating in their future life, based on their own resources, desires and needs, and always in close collaboration with relatives.

As part of the planned expansion of our services and an increase in the number of beds, we are seeking new colleagues for an already well-functioning and experienced staff group. You will become part of a dynamic, engaged and interdisciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, social and health care assistants, neuropsychologist, speech therapist and an chief physician.

We work with individualized rehabilitation plans at a specialized level and have a strong focus on supporting citizens to become active participants in their own lives. As part of Tagdækkervej and Regionshospital Hammel Neurocenter we work based on a combination of strong mono-disciplinary focus and close interdisciplinary collaboration, where there is a short path from clinical daily life to decisions.

Your tasks

As an occupational therapist you will assess and rehabilitate citizens with acquired brain injury, which can have both physical and cognitive consequences. You will play a central role in the interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration.

Your tasks will include, among others

  • Diagnostics and rehabilitation of citizens with acquired brain injury based on individualized rehabilitation plans.
  • Use and adjustment of neuro-educational strategies as a natural and integrated part of daily work.
  • Close collaboration with citizens and relatives throughout the rehabilitation process.
  • Interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration on the good and coherent citizen journey.

About you

We are looking for occupational therapists who

  • Are professionally engaged, curious and want to work with people with acquired brain injury and complex problems in a rehabilitative daily life.
  • Are interested in, and preferably have experience with, neurorehabilitation and complex pathways for children and young people. However, you should also expect to work with adult citizens during periods when there are fewer children and young people in rehabilitation programs.
  • See neuro-educational strategies as a natural part of the task.
  • Have good collaboration skills, thrive in team collaboration, seek sparring and value interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Are proactive and able to independently plan and prioritize your own tasks.
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing and thrive in collaboration with citizens and relatives.
  • Move effortlessly between mono-disciplinary and interdisciplinary tasks, also when daily life requires rapid shifts.
  • Contribute actively to a good working environment together with your interdisciplinary colleagues.

It is an advantage if you have a driving license, but not a requirement, as rehabilitation for some citizens will also take place in the citizen's own home.

What can you expect?

With us you enter a workplace where professionalism and human closeness go hand in hand. We offer:

  • Close interdisciplinary collaboration with the citizen at the center and the opportunity to closely follow the citizen's development.
  • A thorough introduction program with professional guidance, supervision and competence development in relevant tasks.
  • A varied daily life with professional challenges and a focus on quality and evidence-based practice.
  • A good working environment with psychological safety, engaged colleagues, good mood and room for togetherness.

Do you want to help set the standard for specialized neurorehabilitation? Then we look forward to hearing from you.

You will be part of a shift schedule, as the unit is staffed around the clock. The work includes day and evening shifts as well as weekend work. The exact scope of shifts and weekend duty will be agreed and planned in the rota.

If you want to know more, you are welcome to contact Birgitte Sommer, department head, at telephone 21 13 36 30 or via email [email protected].

Application deadline: October 17, 2026

Interviews will be held in week 43, 2026.

Start date: December 1, 2026.
