About the job
Our websites need new ideas, strong communication and new ways to meet users.
Therefore we are looking for you who can both create content and lay out a plan for how we reach all of our pages within the next three years.
At Faculty of Natural Sciences we research and educate in natural science.
Natural science plays a central role in society: Businesses demand our graduates, and research projects contribute with important knowledge within green transition, digitalisation, health and a wide range of other areas. We actively work to create a stronger connection between research, education and society – and here we want our websites to show our disciplinary strengths, our educations and invite to collaboration even more.
Can you lift the user experience on our websites?
Expected start date and duration
The position is 37 hours/week with start as soon as possible or 1 January 2027. This is a 3-year project position.
About you
- You are a content creator – certainly in writing and with an eye for the visual. Maybe you can make video, pictures or graphics for house use? It is important that you can showcase the academic environments, that you can communicate to the target audience and at the same time keep the academic standard high
- You must be able to lay out a plan to lift both content and expression on our websites with a strong audience focus – and follow the plan through in collaboration with the relevant partners
- You are skilled at building good relationships and navigating a complex organisation, where the websites have many eyes on them
- You have an eye for how AI changes our use of websites, and you gladly use data to support your work with good web communication
- You are – or will become over time – a super user in our CMS (Typo3) and can act as backup for particularly complex support questions and maintain the support when needed
With us, we help each other across tasks. This means that we need you to both fulfil your core tasks, but also step forward when the organisation or colleagues need a hand.
Two major tasks waiting for you
Bachelors pages
One of your first major tasks will be an update of the websites for our 12 bachelor educations. Before we start writing and producing, we must understand how prospective students use the pages, what they are looking for, and how we best help them in their study choice.
You must help develop a new structure and template for the pages with a focus on the target group, user journey, reading flow and search behaviour. The content must be easy to find and understand: both for users and for the search and AI services they increasingly use for sparring and inspiration about the education choice.
Afterwards the programmes, the subjects, the study environment and future opportunities are to be unfolded in text, pictures and video. Sometimes you write from scratch and develop ideas for new content. Other times your role will be more to spar with communications colleagues at the institutes and help existing content in the right direction.
The bachelor pages and their content must be built in close collaboration with our institutes, while the communications department has the overall responsibility for the pages.
Institute websites
Our seven institutes must have new websites. They are responsible for driving the websites themselves, but the thorough updating we now need to start with, they will need assistance with. You must help them prioritise content, target texts to the relevant audiences and create a good plan for how future maintenance and updating of the pages should be secured.
In addition to the central task of developing, focusing and targeting our web communication, you will also be part of the faculty's Typo3 support. A good colleague handles the majority of the task, but there is a need for you to gain in-depth knowledge of the system so you can step in when needed.
Where you land
Faculty of Natural Sciences is home to all the classic natural science disciplines at Aarhus University. We are 1,500 employees, 3,100 students and have a turnover of a little over 1.6 billion. We conduct curiosity-driven basic research, deliver innovation and educate natural science graduates. Our researchers operate in the Amazon, the Arctic and Aarhus.
You will become part of the communications department, which is part of the faculty secretariat. The faculty secretariat provides the daily and strategic support to the deanery and the faculty leadership. In the communications department we are 10 employees who do everything from web to internal communication and research communication to recruitment of future students. We have very different portfolios, but help each other across and across.
