About the job

Are you a teacher with your heart in the right place, in control of Danish instruction and with a view to the fact that relationships and well-being are at least as important as commas and whole-class assignments? Then read on!

At Stavnsholt School we are looking for a Danish teacher for our lovely 5th-year children and team. And if you can also teach German, home economics (cooking) or craft and design, it starts to look like a really good match!

We are looking for someone who knows that participation and mastery are crucial for children’s well-being and learning. You who can make children feel like an important part of the community, create enthusiasm for learning and see possibilities—even when the lesson plan takes a slightly different turn than expected.

For us, it’s not only important what the children learn, but also how they feel while they learn.

We’re seeking a teacher who wants to make a difference both in the classroom and across the year group.

A teacher who is curious about the children, listens to their perspectives and gives them real influence. Someone who can create a clear framework for the teaching while also making room for creativity, laughter and the good moments that the children remember long after the school day ends.

You should want to work with both the class community and the larger year-group community. Because we believe that children learn best when they feel they belong.

And you should be willing to collaborate. Not just about who takes the copies, but about the teaching itself, the children’s development, and all the good ideas that become even better when we bring them together.

You will become part of something bigger

You will become part of our 5th year group and our youth environment, where subject knowledge, relationships and well-being go hand in hand.

As a rule, our teachers follow the students up to and including 9th grade. That means you have the opportunity to build strong relationships, create continuity and accompany the children through some of the years when there is the most happening—both academically, socially and in many other areas.

You will become part of a close year-group team where we plan, develop and take the task forward together. We have, among other things, weekly team meetings of 1.5 hours, where there is room for professional discussions, joint preparation, coordination and development. In addition, the team has joint cross-disciplinary preparation (FFF) together once a week.

Who are you?

We hope you can recognise yourself in several of these descriptions

  • You are a trained teacher and can teach Danish , preferably with competencies aimed at the upper-primary (outgoing) levels.
  • You may also be able to teach German, home economics or craft and design .
  • You have strong relational skills and know that children do well when they can.
  • You are clear in your classroom management and at the same time curious about the children’s different needs.
  • You are passionate about creating academic and social opportunities for all children.
  • You want to work with project-based learning and dare to try new approaches in teaching.
  • You see students’ participation as a strength and actively use their curiosity.
  • You want to prepare and develop teaching together with your colleagues.
  • You collaborate with trust with parents and see them as important partners.
  • You contribute with stability, engagement and good humor. Also on a rainy Tuesday in November.

You don’t need to know everything from day one. But you should be eager to learn, develop and be part of a community where we help each other succeed.

In short: We are looking for a teacher who wants to do something with the children—and who wants to do something together with us.

And who are we?

Stavnsholt School is a school with high ceilings. Both in our physical spaces and in the way we think about school.

We are located in picturesque surroundings with good outdoor spaces and spacious learning environments. But what we are most proud of are our people and our sense of community.

We have high staff well-being, and our students tell us they thrive as well. In the latest student well-being survey we performed well—both in the Furesø Municipality and nationwide. Not too shabby! 😉

Our everyday life is built on five values

Community – joy – recognition – curiosity – formation.

And no, they aren’t just written on a poster we once made. We actively work with them in daily life and twice a year place special focus on the values across the whole school.

We have about 580 students and nearly 120 colleagues distributed across a general school, a group system, a far-reaching special provision and a leisure department for 0–3 years.

You will become part of an engaged staff group where teachers, education aides, guidance staff and leaders work toward the same goal: that all children should have a good school day and feel they are a valuable part of the community.

Why should you choose us?

Because we genuinely like going to work. And because we like each other.

We help each other, share ideas, laugh together and believe that the best school is created in the big WE .

We prioritise a good working environment and community—in teaching, in team meetings and when we meet for cross-week activities, joint activities, summer party and Christmas lunch.

And we also have good coffee. Of course, that doesn’t solve every challenge in a school day, but it helps a little!

Should we meet?

If you have read this far and think: “This actually sounds like a place I would like to be” then we hope you will send us an application.
