When a person is in an acute mental health crisis, your first meeting can make a difference – we are seeking two nurses for the Psychiatric Acute Emergency Department in Glostrup

With us you get close to psychiatry when the need is greatest. You meet patients of all ages, work with both psychiatric and somatic issues and become part of a team that helps each other through a daily life with high tempo and great variation.

An emergency department with a special task

Psychiatric Emergency Department in Glostrup receives patients around the clock from, among others, outpatient units, somatic hospitals, 1813, general practitioners and the joint psychiatric emergency phone.

We are the only emergency department in the Capital Region who receive both adults and children and adolescents with acute psychiatric issues. This gives breadth in the work and close collaboration with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

We handle about 25 inquiries daily, and some patients are offered admission to our observation ward. You follow the patient from the first meeting through assessment, observation and treatment and help lay the groundwork for the further course.

Here you use your entire nursing expertise

A shift can begin with triage of a patient in crisis and continue with somatic assessment, conversations with relatives and observation of a patient in the department. You must be able to switch between tasks while still seeing the person in front of you.

Your tasks will include among others to

• receive, triage and assess patients with acute psychiatric issues
• observe and assess both psychiatric and somatic symptoms
• establish contact and security for patients and relatives in difficult situations
• perform clinical procedures such as ECG, blood tests and IV line placement and assist with withdrawal treatment
• work closely with doctors, psychologists and other disciplines on the patient's further course

Space to develop yourself

We have an established ECT team, and TMS treatment is being implemented. If you are interested in specialized treatments, you will have the opportunity to develop in the area. You will receive thorough training, and we do not expect you to know everything from day one.

We also prioritize daily professional sparring. In our nursing professional forum we discuss patient pathways and clinical questions together.

We are looking for you who

• are a trained nurse with Danish authorization
• preferably have experience from psychiatry, emergency department or somatics
• can maintain calm and overview, even when several things happen at once
• are curious about acute psychiatry and want to develop your nursing
• meet patients and relatives with respect and can establish contact in pressurized situations
• contribute to good collaboration and working environment.

You do not need to have experience from all three areas. The most important is that you have a solid nursing professional view and a desire to learn.

Salary and employment terms

We are seeking two nurses for positions of 37 hours per week in mixed shifts. Start date by agreement.

Salary and employment terms follow the collective agreement for non-management staff in the Health Cartel area concluded between the parties of the Health Cartel, including Danish Nurses Organization and RLTN with salary placement as nurse.

The 24-hour ward is staffed around the clock, and you will therefore be scheduled with mixed shifts in accordance with the rules in the current working time agreement.
