About the job

Do you want to make a real difference for people while also having a diverse everyday life?

Then you may be our new workshop supervisor at Nordvestsjællands Prisons.

In the workshop with the inmates who are placed in a closed regime in Jyderup, you will become an important part of the daily life for the inmates. You will have a workday where relationships, responsibility, safety and practical tasks go hand in hand.

You will help create structure and meaningful occupation for the inmates while contributing to the daily operation of the prison. It requires both human understanding, clear communication and the ability to maintain an overview – even when days do not go exactly as planned.

About the job

As a workshop supervisor in Jyderup, you will be part of the prison's engagement of the inmates. The inmates work, among other things, with various assembly tasks, creative tasks, and you will help guide and supervise the work.

You will also together with the inmates perform minor cleaning, repair and maintenance tasks.

An important part of the job is to help create a good balance between occupation, relationships and safety. You will therefore have a diverse everyday life, where you work both independently and closely with colleagues across workshops and trade groups. In the closed workshop you are typically always two on duty, so it is important that you can integrate into a good collaboration with your upcoming colleague.

Your primary tasks

  • supervise and guide the inmates in their work tasks.
  • distribute and register cell work to the inmates in the remand jail.
  • participate in the prison's daily operations and, as needed, cover at other workshops.
  • collaborate with other workshops and trade groups.
  • participate in case processing regarding the inmates, including registration in PUMA etc.
  • contribute to the prison's dynamic security.
  • register work rewards in Denmark's Prison Economy system.
  • perform minor repair and maintenance tasks together with the inmates.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who can see the person behind the inmate, and who can also be clear and set the necessary boundaries.

We place particular emphasis on you

  • Are a good judge of character and meet each person with empathy and respect.
  • Have natural and personal authority and can create calm, structure and order.
  • Communicate clearly about rules, frameworks and expectations.
  • Can handle people who are in crisis or difficult situations.
  • Have good teamwork skills and contribute positively to the community.
  • Are flexible, adaptable and at the same time able to work independently.
  • Thrive in a changing everyday life where not two days are necessarily the same.
  • Can function in a cross-disciplinary team with many different tasks and ongoing new initiatives.
  • Are prepared to complete the Danish Prison and Probation Service’s internal workshop supervisor training if you are not already a trained workshop supervisor.

As a workshop supervisor you will have the opportunity to make a concrete difference in everyday life. You will become part of a professional community where we work together to create a safe and structured everyday life for both inmates and staff.

If you are motivated by working with people, taking responsibility and having a daily life where you never quite know what the day will bring, we look forward to hearing from you.
