Would you like to be a study mentor for a fellow student?

Are you the type who masters structuring and communication skills, and do you have a professional overview of task solving and calculation strategies? Then you may be one of our new studiementors for students who receive special educational support (SPS) at SDU due to dyscalculia/number blindness.

The SPS unit is part of Student Services at SDU. The purpose of SPS is to help students with a disability or a functional impairment so that they, as far as possible, can complete a higher education on the same terms as others.

As a studiementor you will

• Provide academic sparring to a fellow student in a subject you have completed satisfactorily
• Contribute to the student becoming familiar with methods, norms and requirements in subjects in which elements that require numeracy understanding are included
• Support the student’s deepening of the issues and tasks that have been worked on in teaching in relevant subjects in relation to the student
• Support the student in understanding the academic requirements, e.g. for exams in relevant subjects
• Support the student’s learning and academic self-confidence

We need you to be able to work with flexible working hours. Your working hours will depend on the student’s current needs and the agreements you make together with the dyscalculia advisor.

If there is currently no need for a studiementor in your subject and with your competencies, we reserve the right to place you on our studiementor list – and we will contact you as soon as we have a student in need of support who is pursuing your specific degree.

Note: When employed as a student assistant, you must be enrolled as a student in a higher education program.

Application must include a cover letter, CV and transcript showing how far you are in your studies at SDU. If you have not yet taken an exam, the application should instead include your enrollment confirmation. All documents related to the application should not contain a CPR number – if so, the CPR number must be crossed out.
