About the job
We are looking for an engaged and ambitious DUS leader with start on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible.
We are seeking a leader who is clear, present and good at creating direction. A leader who can bring employees together around a shared pedagogical practice and strengthen a culture characterized by collaboration, responsibility and professionalism.
At Bundgaardsskolen we believe that children develop best in strong communities where learning, well-being and formation go hand in hand. Therefore we see the DUS as an important part of the children's overall school life and not just as an offer before and after school.
As the incoming DUS leader you will have a central role in creating structure, following up on shared agreements and developing the DUS in close collaboration with staff and the school's other leadership. An important part of the task is also to ensure the organizational overview, including meeting schedules that support a well-functioning everyday life for children and staff across the entire school.
As DUS leader you will become a central part of the school's overall leadership team, where we work closely together to create coherence between the school and the DUS.
Your everyday
Bundgaardsskolens DUS is characterized by engaged staff, good relations with the children and a close collaboration on the school's other tasks.
B Bundgaardsskolen is a new school (established summer 2024) in lovely green surroundings in Aalborg Øst. We are a UNICEF Rights School, where the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child forms the framework for our community, values and view of children.
We prioritise two-teacher arrangements / co-teaching in Danish and mathematics, as well as a strong academic environment through Professional Learning Communities (PLF). In the early years we are always two adults in the classes.
In total we create every day safe and development-oriented frames for about 650 students and 120 engaged staff.
As DUS leader you will be responsible for the daily operation and development of the DUS. You must be able to create clear frameworks, support staff development and ensure that our pedagogical practice is based on shared values and ambitions for the children's well-being, participation and development.
In addition, you are expected to take co-responsibility for the overall school operation and actively contribute to the school's strategic and organizational development as part of the leadership team at Bundgaardsskolen.
We work from the ambition that all children should experience themselves as meaningful participants in strong learning and leisure communities. We believe that clear adults, high expectations and good relationships are decisive for children's development.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Lead and develop the DUS's practice with a focus on strong children's communities, well-being and opportunities to participate for all children.
- Create organizational frames for a well-functioning everyday life through responsibility for timetabling, finance, administration and resource use.
- Ensure coherence between the school's and the DUS's efforts so that the children experience a holistic everyday life.
- Manage personnel leadership through clear communication, sparring and follow-up.
- Create structure and direction through clear expectations, agreements and systematic approaches.
We are seeking a leader who
- Has experience with and a desire for pedagogical leadership or is ready to take the next step in their career.
- Can create a common direction and translate visions into concrete practice.
- Can take responsibility for daily planning and operation so that resources are used efficiently and support the core task.
- Is clear, relational and trust-building in their leadership style.
- Thrives in collaboration with children, staff, parents and leadership colleagues.
- Sees the value of strong communities and high expectations for both children and adults.
What you can expect from us
- A central leadership role, with great opportunity to shape the development of the school's overall mission.
- A school with strong values and high ambitions on behalf of the children.
- Close collaboration with the school's leadership team.
- Skilled and engaged staff.
- A daily life with presence, humor and shared focus on the core task.
- Opportunity for leadership training if you do not already have one.
- We are not merely looking for a leader for the DUS. We are looking for a leadership colleague who wants to be part of creating the communities that give children a desire to come, courage to participate and opportunities to develop.
If you would like to know more about the position, you are welcome to contact the school principal John Schulz at 29237843 (feel free to text a message and we will call back).
