About ICARS

The International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS) is an independent international organisation established by the Danish Government to support low- and middle-income countries in developing evidence-based and context-appropriate solutions to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Working across the One Health spectrum, ICARS collaborates with governments, research institutions and global organisations to bridge research, policy and implementation.

About the role

We are looking for a Student Assistant to join our Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications Team. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in digital communications, creative media, data management and global health and development. You’ll support our day-to-day activities and help communicate ICARS’ work on AMR in LMICs.

We’re looking for someone with strong technical skills who also takes initiative to bring fresh ideas to the team. Alongside delivering assigned tasks, you will be encouraged to suggest improvements and take ownership of agreed activities, with support and feedback from colleagues.

Key responsibilities

Website management

  • Maintain and update content on ICARS’ WordPress website, keeping it accurate, accessible and user-friendly.
  • Track website performance using analytics tools and suggest improvements based on the findings.
  • Proactively identify outdated content, gaps and opportunities to better showcase our work.

Graphic design & visual content

  • Create engaging infographics, social media graphics and report layouts that align with ICARS’ brand.
  • Help develop templates and designs for reports and presentations, bringing fresh ideas for communicating complex information clearly.
  • Video editing & multimedia:
  • Edit videos for ICARS’ social media, presentations and events.
  • Support video production and identify opportunities to turn existing footage into useful, engaging content.

Social media support

  • Support ICARS’ LinkedIn presence through content creation and community engagement.
  • Keep an eye on relevant conversations, project updates and sector developments, suggesting timely stories and opportunities for ICARS to contribute.

Internal communications support

  • Maintain our internal SharePoint, including keeping our media library organised and up to date.
  • Support colleagues with designing clear, engaging PowerPoint slides and formatting Word documents.

Press Office and external communications support

  • Assist with event promotion and Mailchimp newsletter creation.
  • Monitor our communications mailbox, respond to routine enquiries and coordinate with colleagues on requests from stakeholders, including regional and national press.
  • Flag relevant media and communications opportunities for the team to consider.

Data and stakeholder information management

  • Support the team in entering and maintaining accurate, up-to-date data and contact information in ATLAS, our CRM system.
  • Other tasks related to deliverables of the Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications Team.

Desired profile

We are seeking an organised and curious student who enjoys both developing ideas and getting things done in a pro-active and structured manner. You take the initiative to find information, ask useful questions and suggest practical next steps. You can work independently, recognise when to seek guidance and lead tasks through to completion, while keeping colleagues informed. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly, and you bring strong digital fluency, technical skills and the ability to pick up new tools with ease.

Required qualifications

  • Currently studying for a Master’s degree in IT, Media Studies, Marketing, Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Proficiency in WordPress and basic website management.
  • Experience using MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with graphic design tools, such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Basic video editing skills, using Premiere Pro, Final Cut or similar software.
  • Strong organisational skills, working in a structured manner and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to identify opportunities, propose ideas and take responsibility for delivering agreed tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in perfect and fluent English, including the ability to adapt content for different audiences.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of Google Analytics, or a willingness to learn.
  • Experience using CRM platforms (Dynamics 365)
  • Skills and interest in drafting technical and scientific communication material.

What we offer

  • Hands-on experience: Contribute to drafting communications material, external stakeholder management and partnerships, developing your skills through practical work and feedback.
  • Impact: Help communicate solutions to one of the world’s most critical global health and development challenges, with space to contribute your own ideas and see them put into practice.
  • Flexible working hours: Our working hours between 8 am and 5 pm with accommodation of your academic schedule.
  • International environment: Work alongside experts and colleagues from diverse backgrounds in a global organisation.

If you enjoy turning ideas into action and want to use your communications skills to support global health, we would love to hear from you!

Terms of employment

The position as student assistant will be covered by the terms of the collective agreement between The Danish Finance Ministry and the Organisation of Public Employees (OAO-S-Fællesoverenskomsten) and the organizational agreement between The Danish Finance Ministry and the Organisation for Salaried Employees HK/Stat (Organisationsaftale for kontorfunktionærer, laboranter og it-medarbejdere (HK)), according to chapter 6 in the agreement concerning hourly paid employees.

The successful candidate is enrolled at graduate level in a Danish University with at around two years of studies remaining. They will predominantly work from the ICARS HQ office, based at the Statens Serum Institut in Copenhagen, Denmark.
